The Lightning Thief Book Report
I. Introduction

My choice for my book report is the lightning thief by Rick Riordan, it was called the lightning thief because Percy Jackson who is the protagonist of the story was accused of stealing the weapon of Zeus (the lightning bolt) Percy had two friends in camp half-blood namely Grover and Annabeth. These two people help our hero Percy in his quest to prove that he did not steal the lightning bolt from Zeus. There is also Luke, the real lightning thief, who acted nice to Percy in order to frame him up. Later on, he was sent to camp half-blood in order to be protected from Hades and his monsters. But knowing that they are

References to Greek mythology pervade much of popular Western culture, and although some allusions may go unnoticed for those without a background in mythology. The study of classical mythology is not a standardized, widespread component of education, and thus there is a gap in understanding of these references for many people. One book that sought to popularize Greek mythology amongst young students was Rick Riordan’s The Lightning Thief, which topped the children’s bestsellers lists just under ten years ago. Percy Jackson, a teenager living in New York City, is the protagonist in this novel and embodies the Greek hero Perseus in his relationship with his mother and the quest on which he embarks. While any competent reader can understand the…

Power can come from many sources, with the most prominent being fear and knowledge. In Markus Zusak’s The Book Thief, the ways that displays of power take shape differ as much as how the characters perceive power itself. Throughout the text, Liesel changes and develops; while she originally finds Hitler’s words empowering, she learns that his words are oppressive and are the reason for the suffering of many, including her loved ones. Later on, Liesel is able to find her individuality through both her own words and the words of those around her such as Hans Hubermann and Max Vandenburg who teach her about humanity’s capacity for good and evil. The complex dynamics of power within The Book Thief give insight into the latent abilities of words…

Death’s point of view as the narrator allows the reader to comprehend the story with a deeper understanding that Death was around for the entire story and will continue to be around, giving more meaning to what happened and who it affected. The passage, “There’s a multitude of stories (a mere handful, as I have previously suggested) that allow to distract me as I work, just as the colors do… The Book Thief is one such story.” from page 549 shows that Death both participated in and observed Liesel’s story. It would show that Death’s job affected the entire book because he was a larger part of the time period the book takes place, and also that the people affected were ones that he would remember.…
