“We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.” -Randy Pausch The Last Lecture can teach a lot about the importance of life. Randy Pausch found out he only had so long left to live and through his last lecture and this book he shows how important it is to live every moment as it is the last because it just might be. He was asked to give a last lecture as many professors are, except he wouldn’t need to pretend it was his last because he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Throughout the book he shows the importance of overcoming obstacles, achieving dreams, helping others achieve their dreams, and living life to the fullest. This book provokes thought beyond what the pages say it also helps teach the importance of fulfilling dreams and living every day as the last. The first thing the book taught me was not to put things off to the next day because tomorrow is never guaranteed. The second section of the book is called Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams, the dedication is about dreams, and dreams are talked about throughout the whole book so he must have thought it was an important topic for the audience to take away. On page 31 it reads, “It’s important to have specific dreams.” That quote proves that he wanted the audience to realize the importance of dreams and set and achieve dreams and help others do the same.
