An author is allowed to extract excerpts from total information received in a review. I get permission to do this first, but it is not necessary as long as you do not change the reviewer’s opinion.

The rule is: Once the reviewer sends an author their book review comments, they become property of the author, to do with, as they will. They may correct misspellings, change punctuation, or incorrect word usage, but should never change or distort the opinion.

There are many things that I really enjoyed reading in my book. Some of those things would have to be just how accurate everything seemed to be. A good example of this would be how Mrs. Bowen put all of the dates and historical events into the arguments that were held in making the Constitution. Another thing that I liked was just how the author made me…

1 Summary: After listing the name of the book and author, summarize the book concisely in 500 “tight” words (no more than 2 pages). Prove that you comprehend the reading by writing a no-nonsense summary. The summary is not a commentary or listing of topics, but rather a heartfelt, condensed, insightful synopsis of the longer, more elaborate book. Cite the book in text at least once per paragraph, and include page numbers for direct quotations.…

The short Essay, An Experiment in Criticism, by C.S. Lewis brings to light many new perspectives to how people read and experience literature. Throughout the essay Lewis works to give the message that; how good a book is doesn’t depend on the quality of writing but on the reader. He begins by defining two types of readers- the “literary” and the “non-literary”- which he uses through the rest of his essay to categorize different traits for treating literature.…

In this weeks reading, the artwork that resonated with me most were the Etruscan tombs. As an anthropology student, I am drawn to artwork that is unclear in its meaning, and I am especially drawn to burials. I find it extremely fascinating that we as humans have always placed importance on an afterlife, whether one believes in reincarnation, heaven, or any other type of eternal place of rest.…

Through the use of specific words, such as “pilgrimage” (360) and “conquest” (367), imagery is created. Both words are filled with meaning; “pilgrimage” gives the image of a great trek and “conquest” produces the thought of victory and power. Ehrlich creates visual scenes by using specific details, akin to how she describes how toughness is interpreted as “weathered skin, calloused hands, a squint in the eye, and a growl in the voice” (368).…
