The Job Corp Life
Coming to Job Corp was probably the best decision I had ever made, which totally changed my life around. Coming to Job Corp has given me a new direction in my life. Job Corp has had a big influence on my life because ever since I was seven years old, I have always said that I wanted to be a Hairstylist. At first I had thought it was just a phase that I was going through as a child but as I grew older, and wiser, I kept on thinking about it. I could never imagine myself in another position, or another field other than being a Hair Stylists .It has been a lifelong dream of mine to become a Hairstylist. And that is why I am here at Job Corp, to get my high school diploma to begin my journey to becoming a Hairstylist.
When I first started researching about what beauty schools were around in my area and what they offered, I found many different schools for example empire beauty, which seemed like a good start but just didn’t seem to satisfy my requirements enough. I wanted something that was a little bit more in detail and hands on because I knew I wanted to learn everything that I could possibly learn about my craft. I looked around and have finally decided on Atlanta area technical college, and also have taken a tour around the school campus and felt that this school meets all of my requirement . And then one day I s. I noted the number down, and called right away, and I was transferred to Jan, who then became my counselor. That was the best choice I had ever made in my entire life. Jan had explained to me, briefly what the course demanded from me, what I could demand from the course, what the teachers were like, what the work load was like, how much it will cost me, and what it can do for me having a MTI degree.
So without wasting any time, I was in her office for a brief introduction. Once I was in the office the whole process was so easy and smooth. I knew right then that I had made the right choice by coming to MTI. The paralegal program was something which

Hello my name is Chassidy Mitchem I would absolutely love to be a part of your cosmetology program. I love to do hair and, make up. Doing hair is something I enjoy doing in my free time. It’s a way to get away from people and let my mind explore into better things. I enjoy looking and trying new hair styles and colors. I have done makeup and hair for Homecoming court and Grand March. It would be an absolute dream to get into this school and have some hands on time with the things I love doing while learning more about Cosmetology. Cosmetology is very important to the world because someone will always want their hair done or make up done. Most people only want to go to a professional so they know they will be getting the best of their money. You could also be able to set up your own business around your area. I differ from a lot of my peers because no one really understands the importance of Cosmetology the way I do. Everyone thinks it useless. Cosmetology is just as important as other jobs because someone will always need you. There will always be someone needing their eye brows done or maybe there nails especially during homecoming and prom or even a wedding. I’ve talked to a couple people and got some really interesting opinions. Some people has told me I wouldn’t make it and some people has told me I would, but my motto is “Never give up, because you never know how close you are to fulfilling your dream.” I plan on getting this degree and opening my own salon and I feel that it will give me knowledge I need to know for success. I learned to do this at a young age and I feel very strong about this career. I believe this will be the field I dedicate myself to. I hope to be attending this college at whatever time the school year would…

When I first arrived at high school, I was extremely nervous. The school was huge and there was not a familiar face in site. Although I was nervous, staff and students did their best to create a positive learning environment. Going into my sophomore year, I received the same positive energy from the staff and my peers. My guidance counselor, Ms. Hunter, helped me to prepare and offered me the opportunity to enroll in…

I have set goals to get the best out of my education for a better future. I realized that the school at my hometown wasn’t going to cut it for me. I made a choice to apply for Mt. Edgecumbe High School, which would teach me independence, get used of dorm life, and take classes I need and want to take that isn’t offered at my old school. I was ecstatic to be accepted into this boarding school and I believe that it is the best high school in the state. It gave me more challenging math classes and the teachers are more clear and easier to understand, making the subjects easier to learn than at my previous school. There is also a more diverse selection of science classes. In addition I feel that the english classes are taught a lot better. I deeply acknowledge the way Mt. Edgecumbe High School operates and I am proud to be a Brave. Now at my second year at Mt. Edgecumbe High School I will be taking an Introduction to Law Enforcement class to start on one of my goals. Maybe you don't know what you want from life, but we all know we want to be successful. As I oscillated between a few high schools I knew I wanted to leave a mark on the world, because being known is amazing. I know how to get it, I know what I have to do to get it, and I know where I needed to be to get it. I decided to attend BCTHS after my amble tour through the building. At that point I believed it would make me successful, and I knew I could endure this challenge on my own. I knew that there will be competition, but I also knew that I will still be successful. Success to me means going to a great college, and one day be well known for the creativity in my art and photography. I wanted to start ahead of the competition, and I knew I couldn't do this unless I attend BCTHS, especially when my two favorite career classes are dovetailed as one.…

My parents wanted me to go to Young Harris where there is nothing to do, like Pickens, to assure I wouldn’t get into any trouble. I didn't want that for myself, I knew I wanted a semi-city environment to help transition into a more busy area such as Atlanta, where I plan to move post graduation. After long nights of arguing about my future, my parents finally gave in and let me enroll at KSU. After enrolling at KSU I declared my major as Biology. As far as long term goals go I aspire to be a dermatopathologist and plan to later enroll into medical school. I was offered to chance to join a learning community so I took advantage of the opportunity as the email I received portrayed it to be a very beneficial experience. But at the same time I am a “first generation” student and I have absolutely no idea what i'm doing or if joining the community was ,or is, a great decision. I’m not exactly sure what I'm supposed to gain but I'm hoping for more individualized learning and the opportunity to be comfortable enough to ask for help in my classes.…

At the time, my sister was attending Kennesaw State University and I had no intentions of following in her footsteps there. I loved the small town atmosphere of Dahlonega and how it was not too far from home but not right around the corner. My friends who also went with me that day may have also had some influence on me going to school here. However; choosing a major was not as easy as choosing where I wanted to attend school at. I always played school growing up, waking up at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday just so I could replay the school day with my imaginary class and the whiteboard I so dearly loved. I struggled my first two years at deciding when I finally decided I would just choose nursing. After the countless hours in the chemistry lab, all nighters studying molecules and bonds and the dread to attend Anatomy class, I came to the conclusion that a nursing degree was not the degree for me. The following summer, I got the chance to work at a special needs camp for eight weeks. I instantly fell in love with these children and all their different personalities; especially one child named Malachi. He was a six year old boy who was non-verbal and had the speech of an eighteen-month hold. Through the course of the summer, I watched Malachi make such minute progress, but I was instantly intrigued by what was going on in his brain. I decided then that I wanted to be a Speech Therapist and would get my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood. I would then make my way to graduate school to earn my degree in Speech…

Growing up, I have always struggled in school, the work and the classes never interested me. I never had the freedom I wanted to broaden my abilities. I’m the student who always told herself, “just 180 days to go, just suck it up and get it over with”, and currently, that is what I am doing. But now, as a senior in high school, I finally get the freedom I have been longing for to do and achieve what I want with my life. The first step, picking a school that’s going to be right for me, a school that’s going to give me the tools I need to be the best I can be, and now after typing that, it sounds really cliché, but it’s true. The Fashion Institute of Technology is my key to the life I want. While it can offer me with possibly the best experience of my life, I can offer it an open mind to anything and everything.…
