Over the years, country music has changed. From Appalachian music to Hillbilly music to officially calling itself country music. It went to pop, jazz and blues. Change is affected largely by consumer demand, country music changed rapidly from 1972 to 1977. Due to this demand, lyrical themes focused more exclusively on love problems and were more explicit in discussing various sorts of deviant behavior. Chord structures and rhythms became more complex, orchestrations became fuller, and the singing styles became smoother. In all these ways, the most widely heard country music sounded more like the other genres of popular music in 1977 (Peterson). This also affected how it was portrayed in the media. Songs that are getting played on these stations are starting to sound less like country and more like rock, hip hop and pop, a result of the list of musicians these days who are misrepresenting the industry they call “country.”(Policastro). Country music change due to the influence of popular musicians. Taylor Swift, for example, the the winner of 18 country music awards. Her instant popularity made her left her country style and switched to pop which resulting to misguiding her fans to this transition.…
The Lakota Indians had the sad and unfortunate luck of becoming personally acquainted with the westward thrust of American development when the Americans’ attitudes toward Indians had grown cynical and cruel. This interaction caused the Lakota culture to change a great deal during the nineteenth century. Horses and guns brought about a dramatic change in the Lakota’s culture. They “enabled them to seize and defend their rich hunting grounds, to follow the great migrating herds of buffalo that shaped their distinctive way of life, and by the middle of the nineteenth century to evolve into the proud and powerful monarchs of the northern Great Plains (R6).” They acquired their first horses and guns, along with the knowledge of how to handle them, from the Americans they came in contact and traded with. The horses allowed the Lakota much greater mobility, which allowed them to hunt more effectively as well as make warfare more prevalent among the tribes.…

Texas is a large state with a vast population that has a variety of diversity and perspectives about the government. The perspectives of the people are important since they define the political culture of the state and affect how others in different nations perceive us. Texas is often described as having a combination of traditionalistic individualistic political culture. Some patterns that reflect Texas’s political culture are taxes kept low and social services minimized. Also, business leaders are the people that have a major say in how the government is managed. In Texas the state has a diversity of views in how the government should be managed which makes it more difficult to classify the political culture. (Champagne and Harpham, pg. 6)The…
The Wild west had a big impact on Americans. The Myth of the Wild West was a place of adventure, violence, and endless opportunity. The Myth attracted Americans in, specifically Cowboys because they had just finished the cattle Trail and were probably hungry, tired, and needed to sleep. The impact on Americans was a positive impact because many people got more jobs, and were in a position to start a new life there.…
In the late 15th century Columbus encountered African Americans which was a factor to how the race was invented. The race was set by a system of rules and a hierarchy where people were set on a scale depending on their race. The color of people's skin and their cultural beliefs are what set up the idea of race. Race in the American West was based off certain rights and if the people in the American West during this time weren’t considered fully white they were discriminated in American societies. The race is looked upon differently in many parts of the world. The American West compares to racism around other parts of the world based on the social hierarchy of racial status.…
Between the 1860's and 1890's, the west of the United States got its name "the Old West" and a reputation of being violent. Now there are many movies, books, television shows, and many other things based on the Old West having: cowboys, gunfights, rough towns, and Indian attacks. Some people may believe that the Old West really was like this, but I think the west wasn't any more violent than other areas of the United States at this time. Less people lived in the west at this time so one murder may be a more significant difference compared to the other regions with lager populations. Also, there were laws set up to try and keep everything under controlled in these towns. Finally, it may of seemed like there were more deaths, but there were wars going on because it's a new area that people are trying to get settled in.…
