The Importance Of Promoting Anti-Discriminatory Practice
The picture I have shown is of a tree. What I am trying to represent to you is that care values are the roots of good care. Without care values the way we are treated and how our life would be would not be good.

Promoting and supporting individual rights to dignity means that it gives a person a sense of independence and gives them their rights. It emphasises the point of protecting them from abuse, promotes safety and health. Places such as care homes promote this care value as they treat the elderly people with respect and just how they want to be treated. They also wash the care home regularly to maintain it to be clean, as the elderly are more likely to be sick. …show more content…
It makes awareness on assumptions made surrounding gender, race, age, sexuality, disability and class. it also makes sure that people understand prejudice, stereotyping and labelling and knowing their affects. One service that promotes anti-discriminatory practice is a hospital as they help all people of every race and religion and makes them all feel accepted and welcomed. An example of how Honilands promotes anti-discriminatory practice because they challenge expressions of prejudice, racism, homophobia. This is because there is a poster clearly displayed at Honilands children centre that discrimination will not be tolerated and if people continue they will be removed from children centre. A place that promotes effective communication and relationships are hospitals when the doctors provide information to their patient about their specific questions or concerns. If their patient is worried or scared they say their information in a way that will help them be calm and relax. In Honilands children centre they promote this value by having a lot of leaflets about different services across Enfield and give advice on how to best look after children e.g. what to feed children, what to play and some reading ideas. The way they communicate with the parents and with the children are different as well. When they speak to children they kneel down so they are eye contact and use language appropriate for children. When they speak to the parents or carers they speak clearly with a soft friendly tone. They also allow time for children and their families to ask questions and the staff have to listen carefully and they keep accurate written records. The lack of this care value will make people have a withdrawal from others as they will feel as they can’t have a conversation properly affecting their social needs. If this happens they will lose
