The Importance Of Marijuana
Now Jeffery, before you go out to study the Bible and smoke marijuana with your friends, let me give you something that you and your friends can talk about. Words of wisdom for young men and women that will benefit them in their walk with Christ and in life.
Take my instruction instead of silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold, for wisdom is better than jewels, and all that you may desire cannot compare with her…. “And now, O sons, listen to me: blessed are those who keep my ways. Hear instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it. Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors. For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the Lord, but he who fails to find me injures himself; all

Just as alcohol is mentioned in the Bible and we are to refrain from it because of the toxicity of it. I know marijuana is not alcohol and not every word for wine in the Bible is talking about strong drink. When the Bible speaks of drunkards; these people are not drinking fresh wine, but old wine as it has fermented, which creates the intoxication of the wine. The Bible speaks of this intoxication in Ephesians 5:18, “And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit.” Paul is talking about the effects of the drink, so when you see the word drunk in the scriptures, do not think it is talking about alcohol, but the effects of the drink. You can add any type of drug to the word drunk, drunkard, strong wine because they all cause an altered state of mind. The Apostle Peter informs, but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect. How would you receive an invitation to Christ from someone who is intoxicated with alcohol, stumbling and slurring their words? He may even be too drunk to speak the truth. …show more content…
“With the illicit nature of marijuana, less research has been conducted on the constituents of the smoke and on the respiratory effects of inhalational marijuana. However, both contain cancer-causing nitrosamines, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, vinyl chlorides, and phenol.” If there is nothing wrong with you medically, then there is no reason to harm your body with a toxic drug. “in 1970, it was classified as a Schedule 1 drug due to the potential for abuse, lack of acceptance as medical treatment, and lack of safety.4 Other drugs in the Schedule 1 category include heroin, ecstasy, and lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD).” You are not allowed to operate a vehicle under the influence of drugs. The Police officer will not be able to give you a breathalyzer test, but they can still give a sobriety test. But the most important thing the Bible will tell you is, “A good name is to be chosen rather than great

And marijuana is nowhere near as bad for you as cigarettes and alcohol, both of which are legal. Overdosing on alcohol can kill you, as can the drug’s withdrawal symptoms (it’s a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don’t sort of thing). The Center for Disease Control attributes around 37,000 deaths every year to alcohol (not including accidental…

In America, 443,000 people die from tobacco use, 40,000 die from alcohol use and 15,000 die from other illegal drugs annually (Bureau of Mortality). The death rate of marijuana is zero, but yet the government sees it as a risk and criminalized a plant with great potential. The decriminalization of medical marijuana could create many cures and treatments, bring enormous tax revenue, and could be used for everyday needs. The criminalization of medical marijuana has proven to be a failure and a waste of resource and should be abolished.…

The use of marijuana may lead to devastating effects on one’s future. Research has shown that marijuana's negative effects on attention, memory, and learning can last for days or weeks after the acute effects of the drug wear off. Consequently, someone who smokes marijuana daily may be functioning at a reduced intellectual level most or all of the time. Not surprisingly, evidence suggests that, compared with their nonsmoking peers, students who smoke marijuana tend to get lower grades and are more likely to drop out of high school. This leads to a lower achievement in the future: not being able to get into college and most likely going to have a low-paying job. Marijuana users who have taken large doses of the drug may experience an acute psychosis, which includes hallucinations, delusions, and a loss of the sense of personal identity. Marijuana use also impairs a person's ability to form new memories and to shift focus.…

Under the Controlled Substances Act of 1970, marijuana is classified as a Schedule I drug because it has "a high potential for abuse." This means that the perception is that people get hooked on marijuana and become "potheads," and it begins to dominate their lives. This without a doubt occurs in some cases. But it also happens in the case of alcohol--and alcohol is perfectly legal.…

Driving under the influence of marijuana is a contentious issue that is just recently being acknowledged by criminal justice personnel. Driving under the influence is often connected with driving while intoxicated by alcohol but driving under the influence can refer to driving while intoxicated by other influences, such as pain killers, marijuana or any other illegal substance. Driving or operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of marijuana should be treated with the same penalties as driving while under the influence of alcohol.…

Marijuana does not have a high potential for abuse, and there are very legitimate medical applications. Additionally, in some cases medical marijuana is the only thing that works on patients. “Take the case of Charlotte Figi, who I met in Colorado. She started having seizures soon after birth. By age 3, she was having 300 a week, despite being on seven different medications. Medical marijuana has calmed her brain, limiting her seizures to 2 or 3 per month” ( ). There are no documented cases of death from marijuana overdoses. On the contrary, someone dies in the United States every 19 minutes from a prescription drug overdose. Similarly, alcohol was once prohibited in the US but unlike alcohol “the Times notes, cannabis is not particularly harmful:’ Casual use by adults poses little or no risk for healthy people. Its effects are mostly euphoric and mild, whereas alcohol turns some drinkers into barroom brawlers, domestic abusers or maniacs behind the…

What many people do not understand about marijuana is that it is a safe drug and not all drugs are bad drugs. “Marijuana is far less dangerous than alcohol or tobacco. Around 50,000 people die each year from alcohol poisoning. Similarly, more than 400,000 deaths each year are attributed to tobacco smoking. By comparison, marijuana is nontoxic and cannot cause death by overdose.” (NORML, 2015). Marijuana comes in third behind alcohol and tobacco as the most popular recreational drugs. There has never been a death due to marijuana due to the fact that is is nearly impossible to overdose and it is “nontoxic”. It is very confusing to many people as to why this drug is illegal when looking at how safe it is compared to things like alcohol and tobacco…

Today in America, millions of American citizens are both confused and outraged by the fact that there are still laws that are preventing people from using one of the most popular and controversial, illegal substances in the world: marijuana. According to recent polls, fifty percent of Americans want marijuana to be completely legal and decriminalized (Blodget), and a whopping eighty percent of Americans want it to be at least legalized for medical use (RangelMD). So why do so many Americans want marijuana to be legalized? To some this question can be easily answered, but to others, it’s not so simple. There are way too many reasons to count why people think marijuana should or should not be legal or illegal. However, one cannot deny the many effects decriminalizing marijuana would have on our rights, our safety, and our economy.…
