The Importance Of Family In Jonas And The Giver
Jonas’s family unit is used to maintain the structure of the community, is very disconnected, and the family members have no emotions toward each other. In contrast, Jonas and the Giver care about each other, have emotions toward each other, and are very attached. Jonas knows his family unit is not his real family from the memories and they do not care about him, but Jonas feels like the Giver is his real parent from the way the Giver loves him.
