Carlson explains between two different views on this subject. He discusses the differences between how college can be worth the payoff and how also it can be a waste of time. In his article he writes about does not necessarily his experiences but the experiences of others. People of all kind go to college and only some make it out on top. Some people end up going and just dropping out and/or not using their degrees in the way it was intended to be used in. Scott Carlson tends to lean more towards the viewpoint of how college is worth all of the work, time, and money. Carlson interviews an abundant amount of people and has them tell whether they believe that college is something people should go through to get what they want or need, or whether they should just do it all on their own. Why go to college? Why would someone spend thousands of dollars to sit in yet another classroom? My uncle says “people that get a degree make over a million dollars more in a lifetime.” My dad counters that with “the world needs ditch diggers too.” I came to college to start my life, to become an independent man who finds his niche among society. I suppose some people can do that outside of school but I find college to be an optimum transition to the adult life as it teaches practical skills, instills a greater appreciation of the world, and makes one discontent with inequities in the community.…

This brings up the question as to why many people would so plan to go to college. This is also answered by the Survey data retrieved by the federal Department of Education. It is stated, “some of these students may aspire to college in the same way that many of us aspire to exercise: it is something they would like to have done but not something they would like to do.” In simpler terms, they would like to receive the benefits without doing the work. This solves the reason as to why so many high school students plan to go to college. Having a degree is an excellent key to the workforce, but the process of achieving it is very tedious. Many people argue that going to college is either a waste of money or a waste of time because “now a days” it does not matter if you have a degree or not, it is still hard to find a job. I believe this to be different. People who do not go to college are more likely to be unemployed and, therefore, place undue financial strain on society, making a college degree worth it to taxpayers. In my opinion I think that going to college is a great experience to meet new people, learn social skills, and earn a degree which will always pay off in the long run.…

This is very extensive because this means that a college graduate receives more than twice the amount of hard cash a week. If a college graduate has this exact salary for the whole year, and the fact that there are about 52 weeks in a year, a college graduate…

The tuition is not the only thing that makes college expensive. Coming from high school where I walked to school and was given free lunch, I find myself now spending money daily. During the peak heat of the summer is when I make most of my money due to my jobs being seasonal and I am able to coast through the winter without working, but that is only because I live cheaply in the winter months. Now that I am spending more I will have to pay more attention to my money and create a budget. It is important to start tracking my money, showing my savings account more attention, packing peanut butter and jelly sandwiches instead of Taco Bell and making friends help with gas. To prevent stress maybe I will try to work over the winter. The most important…
