The Importance Of Canadian Peacekeeping
Canada is a Peacekeeper because basically Canada has helped and supported through multiple terrorist attacks, Canada being apart of the United Nations plus NATO shows that Canada can be a Peacekeeper. Canada has been in the United Nations group since 1945, and still continues in the United Nations group today.(NATO 2013) To show Canada is a peacekeeper an example is the Bosnian conflict, Rwanda, Suez Crisis and the Israel-Palestine conflict and how they had a big help and support during these multiple conflicts. Canada supports multiple nations with support for multiple things for example, war, peacekeeping missions, (etc). Canada serves as a peacekeeper and as a warrior depending on the conflict that lies ahead of them.

A Canadian citizen known as L.B Person created United Nations Peacekeeping.(Can Encyc, 1956) Since the Suez Crisis Canada has been on multiple peacekeeping missions, thousands of Canadians serve in those peacekeeping missions.(Can Encyc, 1956) Canada considers L.B Person a hero because he won a Nobel Peace prize.(Can Encyc, 1957) During this conflict over 2600 Canadians and other people apart of the United Nations (UN) helped out during this conflict. Later after L.B Person winning the Nobel Peace prize he then later became Prime Minister of Canada. Canadians stood up to the Egyptians, French, British to break out into war so along with Canada and other NATO allies stood up and stopped it.(Can Encyc, 1956) Egyptian workers were forced to build the Suez Canal and was done …show more content…
Think about if Canada was a country where they were selfish and didn’t care about anyones lives, how would it be? Would it change dramatically? Canada’s a strong individual country where it supports other country during times where countries can’t support themselves alone, where they need help from big places for example, Canada, United states, Russia (etc).
