I believe that in Homer’s the Odyssey, Odysseus would define educated as knowing the answer to a question or questions. He obviously cares about knowledge, because his goddess is Athena. His analysis and memorization of battle tactics shows that he tries to remember as much information as he can should he need it. While some might argue that his curiosity was what drew him to the mainland in Part 1, he shows time and time again that he values having knowledge over seeking it. When Odysseus is confronted with the problem of escaping the giant’s lair, he spends long hours puzzling over tactics that he must have used at Troy.
