In “the house on Mango Street” Esperanza was really naïve and ignorant however things began transitioning in her life because of incidents occur in the novel. The story began with Esperanza the main character moving to a new house.Esperanza moved a lot that she does not even remember her first house. Than she complains how she was always moving her whole life and never grew up in her ideal house. She hates the new house and the neighborhood because she lives in a Mexican segregated area in Chicago which is really poor. Esperanza wants to be free of her community and society because she does not like where she came from. She is lost in world and does not know what to do. In her adolescent life she was ignorant and was asexuality. She wanted to leave her community and area because she could accept it. She even wanted to change her name because Esperanza does too. In the novel the courses changes, she begins experience difficult things in her life. She does not know who she is in this world but eventually she finds out that she’s Esperanza who lives in the house on Mango Street. Esperanza is a great kin observer and she notice that women have such little power in the neighborhood and they are force to live in the house cook and clean and cannot say anything about it. When Esperanza accepts who she is, she wants to break the chains of the male dominate and help her community and society. First by getting education and learning the power of language. She is a great writer. Esperanza l writes poems that express her emotional incidents that happen to her and she would show them to her Aunt and her and always tell her that she could write and use it for her
