On the day the story begins of Bilbo Baggins he was standing outside his home smoking his pipe when an old man with a long cloak, pointed hat, and staff appeared. The man introduced himself as Gandalf but Bilbo did not want to believe him. Gandalf asked Bilbo if he wanted to go on an adventure with him but Bilbo wanted nothing to do with adventures and dismissed himself but not before he invited Gandalf for tea the next day trying to be polite.
On the next day around tea time there came a loud ring at the door Bilbo expecting Gandalf opened the door but to his surprise there was no Gandalf but a dwarf. Soon there were 13 dwarves including the head dwarf Thorin and the wizard Gandalf sitting around drinking Bilbo’s tea and eating his food. They all finally settled down to discuss the business about why they were all their. Gandalf announces that he has selected Bilbo as the burglar for the dwarves long journey they have planned. Then Thorin goes on to explain that they are headed to the Lonely Mountain to get their dead ancestors treasure from the dragon Smaug.
At the end of the night Bilbo is sure he doesn’t want to go on the adventure but the Took side of him began to excite him about the adventure.
