The Hobbit Chapter 1 Summary
In the very first chapter the audience meets Bilbo, a happy hobbit living in his hobbit hole who does not desire an adventure. Bilbo only wants to stay near his home, and sees no point in adventuring. However, after a visit from Gandalf, he invites the wizard to tea. Instead of Gandalf alone, however, he hosts a large group of dwarves along with Gandalf. Poor little Bilbo may have been flummoxed, but he tried his best to get the dwarves what they wanted. After that, they tell him he is to be the burglar. Little Bilbo is surprised, but if one jumps to the end, Bilbo has a positive look on his journey.
