My side character was Tom who in this scene of The Great Gatsby he was observing Daisy and Gatsby talking far away from the balcony, where he did not know they were saying to each other. Meanwhile, Nick was on the stairs looking and listening what Mr. Gatsby say to her. My theme for Tom is dominant because he always wanted to have power over Daisy who really did not wanted to be controlled. In other words, Mr. Gatsby was submissive because he was more that new money which it had less power under old money who controlled most of the people on the town. The color black of our clothes symbolize old money and white was new money. The wine shots were empty on Tom's hand which represented the lack of love for Daisy, in other words
