THE GOONIES (1985)

This film is a unique film that is available for the whole family to view. It has all the elements that an action/ adventure film has and even includes a little bit of romance. It is a humorous film that includes more than just an average adventure story plotline. It shows the journey of all the characters and how they develop a relationship with each other as well as their inner selves. They learn to work together and become close friends.
The Goonies is about a group of young children (they call themselves the Goonies) that happen to find a treasure map. So they decided to go on the hunt for treasure in order to stop a sports club from buying their only home. When they reached the site to start their treasure hunt, the home they went in belonged to a group of criminals that have recently escaped from prison. The group of children get caught and most of them managed to escape, except a chubby boy nicknamed “Chunk”. He tells the criminals about what they were doing and it gave the prisoners an idea to follow the Goonies. The Goonies surpassed many life or death challenges and manages to reach the place where the treasure was hidden. Chunk was trapped in a room with one of the criminal’s son that happened to be abnormal and looked kind of like a monster. He soon turned out to be a really nice guy that just wanted to go out. At the treasure site, the criminals and the Goonies battle each other for the treasure and managed to leave the place safe and sound. The criminal’s son then brings out the criminals and handed them over to the police. Luckily there was some treasure on them and it was enough for the Goonies to save their home.
The movie is targeting young children and families. This is so they could set out on their own adventure and learn that having each other is the most important thing in the world. Treasure does not equal to family and friends. This film appeals to the young audience
