The Glass Castle: Word Analysis
Throughout the book The Glass Castle, the author uses specific wording that makes the book unique. The author of the book uses specific words to help the reader relate to the book on a different level. Jeannette Walls is constantly using the word "skedaddle" (19). With the use of the word, the book seems more personal. Most families do not use the word, so the reader is able to get a feel for the family life the Walls live. The author also uses the word "addict" throughout the book (174). However, this word not only describes Mr. Wall's ways, it also Rose Mary's problems. The author uses this word to show how being an addict is not uncommon. The word helps the reader understand the problems that take place in the Walls household. "Addict"
