The Giver Movie And Book Differences
Difference is great, but can too much of it be unappealing? The Giver by Lois Lowry is a book that was made into a movie about a different and strange community. Jonas, the main character, is struggling because he finds out he is very different than most people after being selected for a very special job. The book and movie follow the same story line, but they are both different in a lot of ways. The differences between the movie and the book is Jonas and Fiona’s relations, the whole assignment situation, and Jonas’s escape.
Those three parts in the movie are very important. The first difference is the romantic relations between Jonas and Fiona. In the book, Jonas and Fiona never shared any romantic feelings with each other. Jonas kind of felt as though he has a

That’s kind of a broad subject but there are many little parts from the movie that were very different from the book. One part of his escape was getting Gabe. In the book, Gabe was already at the house and Jonas took him on his dad’s bike to get away. On the other hand, in the movie Jonas had to go to the place where the babies are kept. He had Fiona help him and he stole Gabe from the building. Another part of Jonas’s escape plan was his help from Fiona and how he got away. When he went into the building and he asked Fiona to come with him, which was confusing because it didn’t happen in the book. He also had Fiona pretend to be stealing a baby with people chasing her so that he could get away with Gabe. He got away and there were all these people searching for him so that he wouldn’t get away. In the book, he got away safe and sound with no one knowing about it except the Giver. It makes to movie more intense and it keeps you on the edge of your seat, but it shouldn’t have been such a big change. It’s hard to think of a reason that they would make such a big difference. It’s most likely because they wanted the movie to be more

Why is it that when a book gets it’s own movie that there are several differences between the book and the movie? Some people argue that the book is always better than the movie. There is a reason for this. Firstly, in most book to movie adaptations small details are changed or are just not included. Secondly, the movie often takes short cuts and doesn’t touch on certain aspects that were described in the book. Lastly, when reading a book you are free to make your own subtext and fill in the blanks with your imagination. The movie adaptations of books have always lacked the detail that's in the book, some things are completely cut from the movie to maintain a well paced story, and it fills in the gaps for us making the experience less unique.…

Hannah goes to the camp and meets Rivka, who is her loyal friend who stays by her side until the end. Movies and books are always different; in a movie you can show multiple characters, and in most books you're stuck in one character's narrative. For instance in the book The Giver the character Fiona doesn’t care about Jonas as deeply as she does in the movie. In the movie she stops her injections, and she starts to love Jonas. However in the book she only “enjoys having Jonas’s company”. In the movie she also helps Jonas steal Gabe before he is killed, and she is put in the community jail for helping him. Before she is going to be released she talks about how she has felt things. That she knows what it is like to truly feel, and in the book she isn’t this unorthodox.…

Jonas’s plan is to leave at midnight and take his bike along with Gabe who is still living in his unit. He would write a note so no one would know he was gone right away and chase after him. The Giver movie showed Jonas leaving was unplanned. Jonas escaped to the Giver’s house and gets a map of the community and beyond from him. Jonas finds Gabe in the nurturing center and convinces Fiona to help him escape. There were many close calls in the movie when Jonas escaped yet almost none were in the book. The book and the movie were both very enjoyable but I did enjoy one more than the…

The Book Thief is an encouraging tale of a fictional girl named Liesel. Liesel was raised during a time of great pain and suffering: Nazi Germany. Many Jews, Gypsies, mentally and physically disabled, and others were killed over a ten year timespan. Scope magazine adapted the book and the movie to create a play. One of the characters, named Death, states, “I’m always finding humans at their best and worst. I see their ugly and their beauty, and I wonder how the same thing can be both.” True, we’re all human beings but how we picture the world and react to it is a whole different story. The extent of examples that can be found in the novel, movie, play, and even real life Nazi Germany has a very wide range including the mass murders and the “Harriet Tubman”s.…
