The Girl In The Window Analysis
The girl in the window was written by Lane Degregory. The girl in the window is about a girl named Dani. She lived in a house more like a closet. The closet she stayed in slept in and was in all the time wasn't clean, there was molded mattress that she slept on and she was surrounded by cockroaches and maggots,bugs. SHe didn't have any toys and she didn't have any clothes that she could actually where. She didn't come out of the closet and she never went outside, never went swimming, never felt the sun. She was not allowed to come out. If you try and imagine what it ws like it was cruel and she didn't have friends, she didn't talk to anyone, she never learned how talk, or socialize with people. And do most things that kids her age can do. Her birth mother had other kids in the house but they did not stay in a closet. A person saw dani’s face in the window and then never again. My question was why wouldn't you call the cops? Why did it take so long for the cops to even go to the house. If they were trying to build a case against her her being the birth mom all you had to do was walk in the house and then you would see. You would have all the evidence you need. My reaction to the story was shocking and amazed. How could a little girl survive that long with barely any food probably none. And go that long without sunlight, or being outside. I was amazed by Dani because she survived and soon learned that it is ok to trust people and is actually turning into a person that wasn't locked in a closet as a room. The message in dani’s story is that if something is going wrong try and find a way that you can escape or get help. The cops should've gone to the house sooner and arrested the mom for child abuse and neglect. Dani has a new family now and they actually take care of her. She has brother, mom, and dad. she has been much more happier then she
