Introduction
The following document is a full description of the basic function of an electric citrus juicer. There are many types of juicers, some much more complex than others. However, an electric citrus juicer is a more basic type of juicer composing of only seven simple parts. These parts all work together in a basic orderly manner, making the juicing of citrus fruits easy and convenient.
Mechanism Overview
An electric citrus juicer is a common kitchen tool used for the separation of pure citrus juice from the citrus pulp. The most common type of an electric citrus juicer is primarily made of stainless steel and plastic. The base of the whole juicer is made of stainless steel with a height of seven inches and a width of five and a half inches. All the other basic parts that assemble on top of the base are made of plastic, varying in size (“Smoon Store: How to Choose the Best Juicer and How to Make Great Juice,”( n.d.)). The seven parts of an electric citrus juicer consist of the power cord, motor base, auto-rotating reamer, spout, juice collector, screen and the ream (see figure 1.1). In order for an electric citrus juicer to properly function, one must first assemble all the necessary parts. First, the power cord, which is already connected to the bottom of the motor base, will generate electricity from wall circuits once plugged in.
Secondly, the auto-rotating reamer is placed into the top of the motor base with about three inches sticking out of the top of the motor base ( “Cuisinart: Cuisinart Juicer”. (n.d.)). Thirdly, the central hole of the juice collector is placed on top of the auto-rotating reamer. The spout does not need to be assembled because it is already attached to the juice collector.
