The Fall Of Qui-Gon In The Film

At this point, we receive hints of a relationship between Padmé and Obi-Wan; she even gives his a nickname stating that he “doesn’t look like an Obi-Wan, but more of a Ben.” However, this is truthfully setting up the ultimate fall of Anakin Skywalker in Episode III.
Come morning, the Jedi and Padmé arrive at Watoo’s shop and, wouldn’t you know it, Watoo’s pod racer is a no-show and Qui-Gon suggests that Anakin race—all a part of his plan to test whether Anakin is who Qui-Gon thinks he is. Anakin, however, is hesitant—he has never been in a pod race. However, Qui-Gon tells Anakin to believe in the Force and he can accomplish anything.

Now, Anakin has gained some confidence and Qui-Gon’s suspicions are confirmed—Anakin is the “Chosen One” who will bring “balance to the force.” Excited about an opportunity to train the Chosen One, Qui-Gon informs Anakin of his suspicions and states that he is ready to bring him to the Jedi Temple where his training can begin. After brief consideration, Anakin states that he does not want to go to the temple and wishes to stay with his mother. Reluctantly, Obi-Wan lets Anakin go free and hopes that he will reconsider.
Back at the ship, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are taking one last look at the desert planet—their repairs have been completed and they are ready to leave. However, they see a figure running toward them—Anakin!
Anakin has changed his mind and has decided to reconsider his decision. However, the celebration is short. Anakin is quickly knocked out by another mysterious figure that followed Anakin to the ship—cloaked in all black and featuring a devil-like appearance, Darth Maul is shown on screen for the first time. Somewhere prior to Maul’s appearance, we can throw in a scene of Palpatine ordering his apprentice to attack the Jedi on Tatooine (likely between Obi-Wan talking to the Jedi and Obi-Wan’s bar scene). During this time, Qui-Gon orders Obi-Wan to tend to Anakin while he holds off Maul.

We do, however, hear about how he is helping others on a remote planet and are told how awesome he is. A better character reveal, in my opinion.
However, despite considering Anakin’s training, Windu brings up Obi-Wan’s training and how it is incomplete. On the other hand, Qui-Gon states that his padawan’s training is nearly completed and that he will be ready for his own padawan when Anakin’s training as a youngling is complete.
Elsewhere, Obi-Wan and Anakin are sitting and waiting for Qui-Gon to finish his meeting with the council. During this time, the two encounter Palpatine, who in this version is the intermediary between the senators and the Jedi council; this gives him a lot more strings to pull and makes him the one that sent Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan to Alderaan in the first place. As he passes by the two, he senses a powerful connection to e force. However, Palpatine is ignorant and believes that the one with more training has to be the one with more power. Therefore, Palpatine pays more attention to Obi-Wan and pulls him aside to talk about his noticeable abhorrence of Anakin. Obi-Wan, trusting Palpatine, confides in him about Anakin having Qui-Gon’s
