Several solutions have been offered in order to improve the quality of instruction. Some of these prove to be effective for some time, but later new innovations are introduced thus sometimes affect the teaching-learning situations in the classrooms. Since researchers are future science teachers, there is a desire to determine what are the factors that affect student’s achievement are. The researchers want to conduct a thorough investigation to come up with a possible solution to the problem regarding the science achievement of freshmen students. In our everyday life we encounter Math; some find it interesting but still many find it difficult and even despise it. It is commonly perceived to be difficult. Attitude towards mathematics plays a crucial role in the teaching and learning processes of mathematics. Researchers concluded that positive attitude towards mathematics leads students towards success in mathematics.

One approach to acquiring this information is to improve our understanding of what the students themselves perceive as the causes and antecedents of school failure.     This study examined extends to which comparative analysis between student performances in Mathematics and Science in ND1 final result for 2010/2011 session of Federal College of Agricultural Produce Technology Kano. This study sought data from 30 students in ND1 comprises of those department namely; Agricultural Technology, Food Technology and Science Laboratory Technology. using 20 items self constructed validated and reliable questionnaire which was found to be appropriate.     This study aims to propose an intervention program covering the secondary mathematics subject. The academe, both faculty and students, shall benefit through having a guided program to increase the quality of the mathematics teaching-learning process. administrators and the university itself will also benefit once the proposal had been approved, executed and positively assessed, producing competent students, thus encouraging more patrons who seek for quality education. This study may also be a basis and reference for future researches and researches .The new curricula are organized in three strands of objectives: knowledge, abilities and attitudes/values. According to those we interviewed at the Ministry, one of the major aims was definitively the improvement of the attitudes of the students towards mathematics. The new curricula suggested a more intuitive approach to the mathematical concepts, with emphasis in graphical representations and real world situations. Other new features included the introduction of probability and statistics from an earlier grade level and a greater attention to geometry. In terms of teaching methodologies, the use of calculators was recommended from grade 7 on and some attention was given to active methodologies and group work.The new discipline of quantitative methods was ment for students of humanistic areas who did not have formerly mathematics in their plan of studies.
