The Eye of the Beholder Beauty is all around us. It is in everything we do and see. What one may view as beautiful another may disagree. It all depends on the person and the insight they have and the things around them. Beauty has many different elements and functions. Dictionar.com states “the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manifestations (as shape, color, sound, etc.), a meaningful design or pattern, or something else (as a personality in which high spiritual qualities are manifest).” Merriam-websters.com says “the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit.” And last but not least thefreedictionary.com says “The quality that gives pleasure to the mind or senses and is associated with such properties as harmony of form or color, excellence of artistry, truthfulness, and originality.” Let’s take a look inside the eye of the beholder. Even dictionaries show a form of beauty. Recently I reviewed the word “beauty” in three different dictionaries. Even though all three definitions had some similarities there were also many unique differences. Each of the three sources focused on describing beauty as being present in a person or thing to a certain extent. This clause basically acknowledges that beauty is more of a physical thing. Another important detail all three sources point out is that beauty is something that gives pleasure to the mind. This could be something simple. Possibly anything that stimulates the mind or gives off a pleasurable thought. To sum it up, all three dictionaries say that beauty is a quality in a person or thing that gives off pleasure to the mind. The first definition comes from dictionary.com. This definition seems to be more elaborate than the other two. It has multiple differences from the other sources. The first difference I would like to point out
