The Effect Of Sexual Assault On College Campuses
On college campuses across the United States young women and men are sexually assaulted. Only 5% of those assaults are reported making it the most unreported crime on campus. In America 1 in 3 women are raped every minute, 78 every hour, 56,160 every month, and approximately 683,280 women will be sexually assaulted by the end of this year. Even though most sexual assaults are from the acts of men against women, women are still blamed for the assault for taking place. From the way she dresses, if she is frequently sexually active, how attractive she is, and why was she there in that moment. Most of these cases are not properly investigated and the men commit the acts are even less likely to be imprisoned for it. These occurrences make women not want to report the assault to authorities.
