The quote from the story, “When I came to America, I dreamed bigger dreams. I loved reading and writing, and teaching was the most exalted profession I could imagine. I was unloading sides of beef down on the docks when I decided enough was enough. By then I’d done a lot of reading on my own, so I persuaded New York University to enroll me.”(Dimmitt, Pg. 201) is my second evidence. Some important information about the quote is that Frank McCourt did not have the advantages we have when he was our age, he did not have a good education since he never went to high school but will was able to enroll in New York University, and he was still a happy person and fulfilled his dreams. The quote supports my reason because if most people were in his situation, they would be unhappy with what they have and wont be able to succeed but he never gave up. My past experience was when I had a fever of 104º on a school day and my mom did not want me to stay home and miss school. Some important information about my experience is that everyone in school wanted me to go home until I got better, after school my friends got home from school, we went to play some games together, and the most important thing is that I felt better the next day. My experience supports my reason towards life because I maintained a positive attitude towards life even though I was really sick.
