The Easter Epic Of 1987: NHL History
One famous game in NHL history was the Easter Epic of 1987. That game was game 7 of a series between the Washington Capitals and the New York Islanders. It went into 4 overtimes. The game was started on April 18(that’s why it was nicknamed the Easter Epic) and ended on April 19, Easter morning. It is now the longest game 7 in NHL history. Another great game during the NHL season is the Winter Classic. It is, actually, relatively new. The very first Winter Classic was played between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Buffalo Sabres in Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, New York on January 1, 2008. The game is pretty much always played on New Year’s Day every year. The star player of the Pittsburgh Penguins at the time, and still is now, was
