Should society be forced to hide behind locked doors? Wouldn’t the world be a great place if crime rates were diminishing rather than inclining? How could the dream of safer streets and happier homes ever come to be? Capital punishment or also known as the death penalty is the assassination of an individual by a state which serves as punishment for committing unlawful actions; also giving retribution on behalf of the victims. The death penalty could be the answer that society has been looking for. The enforcement of stricter capital punishment could cleanse society’s streets, hearts, and minds of the filth and hardships forced upon it by criminals. Several countries such as China, Saudi Arabia, and Japan have retained this process of executing criminals. Different views regarding this issue have arisen but furthermost people, mainly those governed by religious sectors, have gone up against the idea of death penalty. The death penalty has already gained its popularity worldwide. In fact, it was often the theme in any debate or even the usual conversation, in consequence lead to the emergence of several arguments which are in favor and against death penalty. Implementation of death penalty has several advantages.
I, as well as several others have absolute confidence in the death penalty. Hammurabi’s code, as Frank Carrington says, “An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a life for a life.” Capital punishment is a very beneficial component for our justice system in the United States. The death penalty saves lives. It saves lives because it puts an end to a murderer murdering ever again. “Unfortunately, the death penalty is used so rarely that it isn’t nearly as effective as it could be,” quotes Officer Jim Glasmann. In order for it to work, we must put it into practice more often. In recent years, violent crime in America has increased tremendously. There are approximately twelve million crimes committed each year! No
