I finally hear my name get called after what feels like an eternity of waiting in a small-scaled, dimly lit hallway outside my guidance counselor’s door. I walked into Mrs. Rosario’s tiny office space and sat in a plush black sitting chair and received a, “Hello, how are you?”. I responded, “I am doing exceptionally. Thank you.” Mrs. Rosario then asked if I could hand her my paper, the whole reason I came, so I placed it on the desk in front of her. That paper consisted of all the classes that I wanted to take for my sophomore year. I carefully picked all of them out to ensure my schedule was balanced. With this intention, just one class made me uncertain, Classical Literature Honors. With regards to the class, I came across it when I was looking for another elective that I could take to fill in a spot on my schedule. I mainly liked academic related electives therefore, this class piqued my interest as well as frightened me. Just looking at the name of the class intimidated me. …show more content…
I looked at that book that seemed to be around seven thousand pages and felt overcome with anguish. Yet again, I started reading the first few pages and then stopped because the story moved too slowly and nothing kept my interest. So when it finally became four weeks before we needed to return the books I made myself sit down and read as much as I could in one day. Surprisingly, after I drew near the first fifty pages the storyline started to pick up and grabbed my attention. For example, I loved the time period and learning about the dynamics between the families. Not to mention all the drama that happened between Scarlett, Rhett, and Ashley all while the Civil War started. Before I knew it, I completed the book within two weeks. Now that I read all of Gone with the Wind, I decided that it is my new favorite book. For this reason, I even went on to read the books by other authors relating to
