Being a part of someone’s life means picking and choosing what’s easy to deal with isn’t an option. Abandoning someone at their worst means their best isn’t available. In the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, Christopher’s mother fails in realizing that she couldn’t abandon Christopher just because its difficult and remain relevant in his life. By leaving him to be with Mr. Shears she left everything, including Christopher’s opinion of her, up to his father. She wanted to keep in contact with Christopher but not have to deal with his behavioral problems. Judy tried to have the best of both worlds by being a part of Christopher’s life without having to deal with his outbursts and difficult tendencies.
