The Corporate Tax Political Drive Analysis

The Wall Street Journal: The article titled “The Corporate Tax Political Drive” talks about American companies moving over sees because they feel as if they are being punished by taxes for investing over sees. If a company invests over sees they have to pay the taxes over there, the author would say is rightfully so, and they would additionally have to pay the taxes her, not rightfully so. The newspaper takes the side that it is not right to have to pay both sets of taxes and I believe that news paper is saying that neither party really has a solution for this as of right now. The stance is that the biggest difference is that the government treats investors fairly. America is falling into the category of not treating the investor fairly, which in the newspapers eyes is a downgrade for America. The next article is called “Dumping the Union Label” an article about the recent court cases that have led to many people dropping out of the union. The union now has to give the child care workers the right to drop out of the union and not have to pay the dues. The argument that is being rightfully presented in the eyes of the news paper is that this can seem to violate the right of the first amendment. The newspaper seems to agree that if they really need that information they can use regular legal method in achieving that.

The article called “Big Oil’s Windfall Losses” discusses the fact that in many years the oil price has dropped and it is not being blamed, or speculated by anything or anyone. Though it is not free of hurt from anyone as people in these industries are being laid off. The newspaper believes that this can be easily fixed if the oil export ban would be lifted. They seem to blame this a lot on the job of the Obama administration and the fact that they are blocking free-market response.

The article “Obama’s Gitmo Workaround” discusses the idea of shutting down the Guantanamo Bay prison and moving around the prisoners to different places inside the US. With no real plan many people, including people from his party see this as a bad idea. The fear is that the president will use his executive power to go ahead and do so other wise.
