Encapturing authenticity, dedication, and the American Dream, The Cheesecake Factory is everything you would expect a chain restaurant to not be. The Cheesecake Factory got their famous cheesecake recipes from a woman named Evelyn Overton. Overton decided to open up a small cheesecake shop in Detroit, Michigan in the 1950’s. About 20 years later, Overton’s son, David, opened a small cafe to feature his mother's famous cheesecakes on the menu. Another 20 years later, David Overton opened the first Cheesecake Factory restaurant and expanded his initial one page menu to include seafood, steaks, and vegetable dishes due to his tremendous success. A once quaint, and on-the-come-up cafe is now one of the most well known restaurant names to date.
