The Cause of Bad or Good Effects for Exam-Oriented Education
The Cause Of Bad Or Good Effects For Exam-Oriented Education It is no doubt that education is always an important topic around in our life, because education can not only improve our knowledge, but also can develope our society’s economic development. Right now, there is one very popular education system in the most Asian countries. It is exam oriented education. For this education system, there are many different opinions. For example, some people consider that this system is waste students’ life, or some people consider that this system can improve the students’ grades. Therefore, the cause of bad effects for exam oriented education is: it wastes too much of students time; Students can not improve their personality and creativity; and students only know theories. These causes led to a bad result, which is most students have good ability to get gear grades, but they have no any life skills. However, there are also some positives cause, the first one is it is an help students gain more knowledge, and second one is good grades can give more chance to the students. The first bad effect is exam oriented education wastes too much of students’ time. In most Asian countries, like in China, most middle school and high school start first class at 7:00am, and end of class at 10:00pm. For example, when I was in high school, we normally have five classes in the morning, from 7:00 to 11:50am. Then we have two hours for lunch and break. After break there are other four classes during the 2:30pm to 4:50pm. Then we have one hour for dinner. After that there are two classes from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Normally, when students go back home, the time already is 10:00pm. Moreover, most middle and high school students have lots of homework, after they come back to home; they have to spend three to four hours to finish their work. Here 's a sobering statistic: “about 80% of primary and middle school students aren 't getting enough sleep, and they average sleep time is less than six

Today the American educational system is getting worse with every year. Teachers in the U.S. schools can not provide children with the appropriate skills wich are needed for their future education. But children in Asian countries are showing high results on their tests, and Asian countries are “beating the pants off us in the educational arena.” Moreover, work perfomance in the U.S. is very poor after graduation, for American students keep failing in Math and Science in high school. Due to the low test scores and poor work perfomance after high school graduation, our government came to a conclussion that the education system is failing. After examining the information out of the different articles, it is obvious that the U.S. educational system should adopt some Asian techniques in teaching, but there are some methods wich must not be changed because of cultural differences.…

The approach of present examination systems means the beginning of fear, tension, anxiety and stress in the minds of the students under which if a student doesn't perform according to his/her parents expectations may lead to students even taking the extreme step of ending their life by doing suicide. The pressure of performing well is so much that if the student has not studied up to the required standards, he/she even sometimes uses unfair means in the examination hall to copy from a near sitting intelligent student and get good marks.…

The differences between the Chinese education and the American education are more obvious in people’s mind, not only to the international students, but also to the native students and some people who study on this. As more and more Chinese students come to America to have better education, we should think about why the American education system is better and how could we change our system to have a new education system in China. These differences have some deeply reason, like the American is the nation which loves freedom. It took long time to make such a big difference between the two education systems, and we need longer time to change it. An undeniable fact is that American high level education system is great, it has more freedom, let students make their own choice by themselves, the grade is not everything, students don’t have to study just for the grade, and in American education, they emphasize use their own skill which they have learned to solve the problem, not only use the way which the teacher told you. In one word, the education system in American is more open and useful for the student.…

I think school exams are adequate to measure student progress. I don't like high-stakes testing because the participants are minors and the quicker you can get these students in a community college environment, the quicker they are able to mature and know why it's important to work hard. I also don't like them because they aren't content exams, but instead are literacy tests, thus while most people are going to perform in accordance with the literacy test as to their abilities, the correlation is far from perfect as these are simply "averages" and thus aren't completely but are "highly" reliable. There just isn't that understanding; the standardized test measures their progress, but it doesn't encourage the student to strive for anything, thus I don't see how some students are as motivated as they could if the learning environment was more creative.…

Education is one of the most important things during our life.I know the difference between Chinese education and American education. American high education is the best in the world, but when we talk about the basic education, most people will have different bifurcation. However, it is allowed in U.S. Americans think calculators go fast and are correct. So, when both students have an exam, then Chinese are better than American students. But when both students use some information tools, then Americans are really better than Chinese student. All appearance, Chinese students are better than American students when they manage and exploit cerebra, but when we compare how to use different information or how to spread cerebra, the American students are better than Chinese students. When we compare the Chinese basic education with America’s, then most people’s opinion are that Chinese education is for foundation education, and American education is for the cultivation of students’ creativity. In China, “seventy three percent people agree, and twenty four percent disagree with this. Also another three percent think Chinese education is foundation education, but student may be not learning much, while American education is for cultivating students’ creativity, but it can let students learn more.” China and America have totally different tradition and exams. Chinese education focuses on the knowledge to accumulate and indoctrinate, on how students use and manage the knowledge they learned in school, and on how to understand the knowledge system and structure. Reversely, American care more about how students use knowledge in society. It lets student challenge the knowledge, animadvert ideas, and focus on, exploit or create knowledge. These two types of attitude about education show us the different ways to understand knowledge, and also to show two countries with different education opinions. “In China, when…

    1. In any country, education plays a very important role to promote the development of all economics and society. However, with methods of education for so long which do not fit the requirements of the new era, Vietnam education is producing passive “people” who is good at theory but bad at practice. Students and even teachers nowadays are always under a great deal of pressure from the so-called “Achievement disease”. Vietnamese obsession of having any type of “achievement” creates a negative effect in education. While students are having pressure of getting good grades in order to fulfill their parents’ will, teachers also have to make sure all of their students receive good marks to meet the school’s decided achievement. This might sound obvious, however there are students who are good at math but not good in science, who loves study and who don’t. As a result, academic dishonesty like cheating exam is likely to be occur frequently these days.…

I interested in the education system different from China to America. In China, schools have strong competition from elementary schools to high schools. After school, students cannot have too much break time to play games. Teachers always give students a lot of homework. From teachers’ perspectives, they ask students to do much homework is good for their studies. More and more exercises can get better grade. However, teachers do not care the grade of homework. They only focus on the grade of tests and quizzes. So it has a problem: if someone fails one important test, it means that he fails the whole things. It is unfair for everyone. In America, teachers help students to develop their independent and creation during elementary schools. Students have a lot of time to do whatever they want…

Education in China does not focus on the students’ practical ability and interests in studying. These schools focus on students’ test scores instead of the students’ potential. Teachers desire to have the top students rather than “bad students”. A student’s scores represent his or her personality. From elementary to high school, students have no elective courses. The teachers’ task is to teach students how to get high scores on the exams. The students are over stressed. They go to school about 6 o’clock in the morning, they stay up studying at night (Hu, 2011).…

Education is one of the most important factors in national development. Each year, millions of children attend schools with passion and curiosity, and start being educated by teachers, schoolmates, and everything around them. Most of people are going to spend more than twelve years in school, and then they walk into the society to achieve their goals or contribute to their country. Hence, the educational system is the guarantee of both humanistic quality and national advancement. As the matter of fact, our generation will be the backbone of China in the next thirty years, and because of that, students are supposed to be taught in a proper way. Unfortunately, the unified Chinese educational system causes serious negative results on Chinese students including the lack on creation, confidence, passion, and honesty. At the same time, Chinese economy has also been damaged since many Chinese students choose to leave China because of the pressure of the system. All of these negative results imply that the Chinese students, and even the nation will sink into a plight. The “chief culprits” are the examination-oriented education and the National Higher Education Entrance Examination system.…

All Chinese students have to study so hard for a reason: the college entrance exam, also called “gaokao” in Chinese. There are over ten million students taking this exam every year in China. Only a small group of students can pass this exam to get into the top university and get further education. When we take the college entrance exam, and students in different majors need to take different exams. There are two different tests, one for arts and one for sciences. And students who major in arts need to remember lots of information; students who major in science need to lots of homework. Many students who cannot pass it may continue studying and take gaokao the next year or just go to a university that is not so good. As our parents say, this is an exam that decides our whole life. So, it is easy to know how much pressure we have when we face this exam. I want to argue in this essay that I think China should provide the college entrance exam twice a year and, furthermore, should avoid using the exam alone to determine which students can attend the best colleges. Making these changes can reduce the pressure…
