the boy in the striped pajamas
I disliked the movie The Boy in the Striped Pajamas because I found that it achieved the opposite of its goal and sent the wrong message across. The purpose of Holocaust movies is to inform the viewers of the abominable happenings of the Holocaust. At the conclusion of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, I found myself feeling bad for the German boy. Instead of portraying the cruelty of the Germans, the movie made me feel sorry for the German family, forgetting that they were responsible for much of the Jews pain and destruction. Throughout the whole movie, emphasis is placed on the fact that the German boy is trapped behind the cold walls of his house and unable to have a normal childhood. This unfortunate reality takes away much focus from the incomparable torture the Jews were going through. But not only do you feel bad for the German kid, you also come to feel bad for his father, who’s mourning bitterly over the death of his son, ignoring the fact that he has caused this exact pain to a mass race of people. The reason I dislike the movie so much is because, the attention is given to the German family, and makes you think twice, that maybe there was another side to the Holocaust. Instead of focusing on the death of millions of Jews, you find yourself grieving the death of the German child, losing focus of the reality of the situation. This is a failure in the attempt to educate the world about the truths of the Holocaust.

    Night and Fog

I must say that this film is very traumatizing. There are some images in this film that will be burned and scarred into my mind for as long as I live. I have seen many holocaust films, but no one was as near as dramatic and depicting as Night and Fog. However I did like the theme of this movie. It is very sad but yet realistic. Our minds are murky and dull. We tend to only remember the important situation in our lives. Yet we don't remember the importance of our own history. I say OUR history be cause we all are human beings on this earth. Whether we believe in Allah, Jesus, Jehovah, or whatever higher power, we are all one race, and that the human race. It is very sad to know that human beings were treated and slaughtered just because of an ideology of superiority complex. Al though the Jewish people were massacred I learned that we must always keep a sense of hope in order to assure our own survival. When I saw in the movie the moments where there were journals that read about favorite foods and important dates, my heart was filled with sadness. Not because these victims didn't have this to eat but because of the false illusions that they had to dream in order to stay sane.…

Over the course of history it was taught through textbooks and actual footage of what occurred, but now in this time period movies have been made to recreate the footage in modern times. Debates over the years has been is history actually being portrayed accurately and if it gives accurate knowledge of the event. Producers of television series and movies of this generation have become the most powerful historians. Movies expose the viewer to possibly see what history was truly resembling, or it can even give a singularity of knowledge. Hollywood created many motion pictures about previous events, but added in things that was not a part in the true event. During 1989 in the New York Times, it was discussed if movies can accurately grasp the understanding of history. Richard Bernstein researched Mississippi Burning stating it showed violence with realistic detail, but it transformed one of the key events of the recent American experience of the civil workers. During The Final Days it was a highly imaginative reconstruction of the end of Richard Nixon’s final presidency, yet the television series showed accurate knowledge on the tense issue of history (Bernstein). The fictional fable of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas created a motion picture of a representation of the time period of the Holocaust. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas accurately represents the Holocaust and what occurred to all the Jewish Orthodox, yet inaccurately represents history with the impossible actions with the overall plot.…

But, that doesn't mean that we should continue making films about the same subject; the Holocaust. Some films can lighten the mood of the Holocaust by adding light situational under tones such as romance. By adding something along the lines of this to the existing horrific mass murder murdering scenes the Audience will be touched by the couple kissing in the middle of all of the chaos, while learning more about the Holocaust. Maybe if the Holocaust films were told by the perspective of the imprisoned Jew then the films would be worth the making. But that will never happen since the point of view is too horrific for the innocent public…

The whole world has gone through some tough times, but not many things have been as horrible as the tragedies that happened during the Holocaust, not many things have been as harsh and heartbreaking as the events during the Holocaust. One of the pieces of writing that explains the almost unspeakable cruelty that we call the Holocaust is in a Scholastic Scope article “Betrayed by America” by Kristen Lewis. It was about an eleven year old boy who was in a concentration camp, he went through a hard time but when the war was over and done with they gave him money and let him go. Another narrative on this event was about a young boy Ben and his Holocaust experience who went through a really hard time and saw things we could only imagine. One of…

The story gives a more broad image about the Holocaust. Showing you that you may have been going on with your day and everything thing turns downward in an instant. The movie shows more about the concentration camps and what life is like inside the fence. Including the work that was forced upon them, the punishments that were received for escaping, what happens if you can not handle the camp, etc. They both also express the fear factor of what people feel in the camps. Boy in Stripped Pyjamas

If it was one thing that helped readers to understand 'The Boy in Striped Pyjamas,' it would have to be Bruno's innocence. A child, without question, would view what happens at Auschwitz as wrong. While adults may place rationalization upon justification to it, a child's viewpoint is direct and simple about it. When Pavel gets beaten (and possibly dies) for spilling a drink on Lieutenant Kotler, Bruno questions why no one stood up for him and stopped it. To an adult, they would make up some explanation as to why he was beaten which would be, because Pavel was a servant (possibly a Jew) and he got done to him what he 'deserved'. But to a child, to be beaten for such a simple thing was wrong. If Bruno had done the same thing, the most he could have gotten was a slap on the wrist. But in reality, it was much worse.…

The entire movie is in black and white and the music that goes along with is unexplainable. The tone of it plays on the viewers' emotions. Schindler's List is not your typical movie. Most movies contain humorous parts or even emotionally uplifting parts, however Schindler's List is totally the opposite. After sitting through this movie for about three hours, we almost felt sick to our stomachs, not only from the emotional scenes, but also from the graphic ones.…

Even though the movie shows the concentration camps and the horrors that the Jews experienced, it does it in a way that would be appealing to all audiences. It isn't too graphic that some students would not enjoy the movie. Schindler’s List has fairy tale like characteristics but is still a very powerful movie which touches many people in many ways. The drama used in this serious film was appropriate but others may debate it is not. The shower scene is a very controversial scene but still an emotional scene. Schindler’s List did successfully “de-sacralizing the taboo on imagining the Holocaust” which allowed a pathway for other Holocaust films which pushed the boundaries on what happened in death camps such as Son of Saul (2015) directed by László Nemes and a well known The Boy in Striped Pyjamas (2008) directed by Mark Herman.…
