The Basis Of Dante's Inferno In The Bible
Many of the ideas presented Dante's Inferno has absolutely no basis in the Bible. An example of this is the sense of poetic justice that pervades the punishment that the sinners receive - for example, those who dabbled in the art of perceiving the future have their heads on backwards, forcing them to always look back, never forwards. Dante let’s his imagination run free as Another example is that of Hell becoming colder the deeper one goes - this, too, has no basis in the Bible, but is based on the beautifully poetic idea that all warmth is from God, and therefore that the further one is from God, the “colder” one becomes.
