What affects the successfulness of a person and how does that account for people around them? There are two different ideas that could determine this being one’s intrinsic interactions with their genetic make up and who they are personally, nature, and one’s extrinsic interactions with their environments and experiences with people around them, nurture. The Other Wes Moore provides multiple outlooks on these interactions and how they affect the author Wes Moore as well as his counterpart sharing the same name. One can read the book and determine the most key factor to one or both character’s success. Similar factors that can play in the division of intrinsic and extrinsic…
The Bondage Breaker written by Neil T. Anderson is about reaching spiritual freedom by overcoming negative thoughts, irrational feelings, and habitual sins. Each section allows the reader to start their journey towards freedom through the sins that are covering their lives. Many people have faulty perceptions of bondage and what keeps Christians in that bondage. Anderson (2007) takes the stand on having integration of psychology and spirituality. “There is no inner conflict which is not psychological, because there is never a time when your mind, emotions, and will are not involved” (Anderson, 2000, p. 21). One of the steps Anderson discusses is knowing that a person has the right to be free. Changing your emotions and thoughts to the truth of God is needed in order to break the bondage of sin. A person should know that they are a child of God and a friend of Christ (Anderson, 2000). He will allow us to break through if we can win the battle of our mind from Satan by focusing on Romans 12:1-2, which states, “do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Renewing your mind and relying on God can be done through continuous prayer. “Prayer is the primary weapon in combating spiritual blindness” (Anderson, 2000, p. 103).…

My choosing to become a doctor may have stemmed from the ideas that I took away from the various books that I read over the years. To this day, I try to view all writing pieces as an opportunity to not only achieve my goals, but to also help inspire a young child to become a better person or appreciate reading as I do. Books and reading Most of all, I am on the path to a profession that will allow me to help others daily such, as the character in my comics…
There is a fire that ignites within me when I talk about my aspirations in life. A fire that burns so brightly that it can not only be seen physically in the way my hazel eyes light up, but felt radiating from my soul through the conversations that others have with me. Even when I was younger this fire always burned within me to better the world and aid those suffering in it. For some of my friends this same fire manifested into them becoming doctors, for me however it manifested into becoming a marine mammal veterinarian.…

Former successful Olympian, Gail Devers, once said “Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication” (Gail Devers, Brainy Quotes). Dever’s words resonate as she inspires those who usually let obstacles keep them from chasing their dreams. As children with an overactive imagination, nothing seems out of reach. Somehow, as we grow older, we begin to notice our strengths and weaknesses and we end up letting go of our old dreams and moving on. Growing up, I fanaticized over what I would do as an adult. Those fantasies ranged from a world-famous pop star to President of the United States. Through all those times of make-believe speeches and singing into a hairbrush, one of my…
My dream is meant to come true and I am capable of doing so. Being a doctor is all I ever wanted and I am not going to let anyone tell me I can't do it. My cousin inspired me. She's the reason why I chose this type of doctor. It is going to be a long journey but as long as you have your mind right you can get to the…
My passion for pursuing a career as a Rheumatologist. I decided that I wanted to be a Rheumatologist when I was a freshman in high school. It wasn’t because it’s a career not many would choose, so most likely there will be an open position for it, it was because of a traumatic event that occurred during my freshman year. 3 weeks before taking my finals for the first time in high school I developed knee pain. It was excruciating pain, for people, it took them 10 seconds to go down the stairs, while for me, it took 5 minutes. If I had to bend my knee, I would cry because I could not bear the pain. After 3 weeks of enduring unbearable pain, I went to the hospital and the doctors did surgery to flush out inflammation in my knee and later came to…
Medicine gives people hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and I want to be a part of that light. I know that it is going to be a hard and difficult road but, I will overcome those obstacles like others before me did. Nobody said it was going to be easy anyway. I am going to be a doctor that helps others in life, even if I could just help one family and bring some closure my journey would not be in vain.…

I tried to do my best at school, seeing as it was the only reason I left my family that I had longed to live with. I had to grow out of my childhood and face everything alone.
