The Alchemyst: The Secrets Of The Immortal Nicholas Flamel
There are so many good fiction books that never makes it into the classroom. If I had to choose one to be a required read it would be The Alchemyst: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel because of its imaginary plot and its integration of real historical characters. So lend me your ear as we discuss gods, monsters, and immortals.

The first reason why I think The Alchemyst: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel should be required is because of its imaginary plot. Many fiction books have similar plots to books with the same topic such as dystopia novels. The novels Killer of Enemies and The Hunger Games have similar ideas such as a powerful goverments, a fight for survival, and monsterous genetically modified organisms. The Alchemyst: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel has a unique plot with its own history of earth streching back million of years. The book also contains a imaginary combination of science, magic, and technology including magical auras, genetically engineer boar people, and the strange chemistry of the elixir of immortal life. That is one reason why this should be a require read.

There are several things that I like about this book. First off, I love historical fiction, and this is the genre of this book. Also, despite the author being too descriptive, the book went at a steady pace. For me, pace usually determines whether I will read the book or not, and I never really hesitated, or thought about changing books.…

The realism of Fahrenheit 451 is still very real today. The novel is a best seller, a winner of the American Academy of Arts and Letters Award, the Commonwealth Club of California Gold Medal, as well as one of only four Best Novel Retro Hugos ever given, in 2004. To say that this book is highly praised would be an obvious understatement. Fahrenheit 451 is still used widely today in almost every grade level that includes middle and upper level reading. As early as fourth graders start reading the novel and…

In life, everyone has their own personal legend. Whether it be giving people a reason to remember the name or getting the dream job, the journey to a personal legend is not an easy one. A personal legend can take your entire life to achieve or even realize what it is! Santiago’s personal legend was to find the treasure, and although it was not an easy task to handle he managed to make it happen. Santiago would not have reached his personal legend without the dream that started it all (the call to adventure), the obstacles that ended up helping him( tests, allies and enemies), or the people he met along the way (mentor).…

Foreshadowing or first obstacle helps to identify, or gives a hint (idea) of what the problem of the story is. Paolo Coelho has several foreshadowing events in the Alchemist; for example, the scene in which Santiago relates his dream to the gypsy, regarding the Egyptian pyramids. The dream itself is an indication of a foreshadowing event. It indicates the events that eventually will occur through the book, ‘’gives a taste of the problem ‘’.…
