Did you ever expect your parents to be right growing up “make sure you eat your wheaties we have a big day ahead of us.” Eating breakfast is actually the most important meal of the day. It helps you stay focused, have more energy, lowers health problems, and even helps you lose weight. “Some studies have shown eating breakfast to be associated with better school performance and attendance among children” (e.g. Rampersaud, et. Al. 2005). Eating breakfast as a child will help you as an adult make healthier choices when it comes to eating.
When you start each day treat it as a new day. When your body has not had breakfast it cannot function to its full capabilities. Most of us sleep for around eight hours but it has really been much longer since you have replenished your body with any kind of nutrients. You need to stop and consider what time your last meal was and chances are you have not eaten for hours. This causes your body to function at lower energy levels, you would not put your body through 15 hours during the day without eating and expect to be running a marathon.
Eating breakfast will make you have a better concentration level. According to the
American Dietetic Association, “children who eat breakfast perform better in the classroom and on the playground, with better concentration, problem-solving skills, and eye-hand coordination.” (Kathleen M. Zelman, The Many Benefits of Breakfast 2007)
Not eating a well-balanced breakfast will also cause mood swings. When your body is running low on nutrients its missing something causing irritability. Look at it like “food is fuel and energy for our bodies and without it we would probably spend the day in a fog, fighting off a headache or with a bad attitude.” Doctor OZ Eating a well-balanced and healthy breakfast does not mean you have to get up and cook
anything.

    The Day Myth

A widespread component of the breakfast debate is the possibility of a link between skipping the early-morning meal and gaining weight or losing weight. However, no such link has actually been proven. There have been numerous studies that have researched the correlation. One study published in the Journal of American Dietetic Association noted that while “breakfast eaters generally consumed more daily calories” and “were less likely to be overweight”, a limited number of their studies could palpably “associate breakfast skipping with overweight” (Rampersaud et al. 2005). Another study done by Emily J. Dhurandhar et al found that “contrary to widely espoused views [eating or skipping breakfast] had no discernable effect on weight loss in free-living adults who were attempting to lose weight” (Dhurandhar et al. 2014). Many believe in this correlation, and thus consider eating breakfast to be the most important meal of the day in terms of assuring weight loss. However, studies have not proven these theories, and correlation does not equate to causation. Just because an individual skips breakfast, does not guarantee they will eat more throughout the day and gain weight. If that individual is vegan and consumes fruits, vegetables, and wholesome foods throughout the day, there is a chance that these foods will fill them up more, and be easier to…
