The Advantages of Biomass Power Plant in Korea
Biomass power plant boiler in Korea

Recent days, we have Korea client asking biomass boiler for their power plant. They want using biomass- rice husk, wood, sugar cane and other agr-waste as fuel to heating boilers in power plant.

Why using biomass as fuel in power plant boiler?
Biomass is readily available; lower priced, and can be sustainably grown. ZG offers a wide range of biomass fired boiler for power plant (station),and CFB boiler for power station technologies, distinguished by capacity, fuel and industrial application, and characterized by unmatched fuel flexibility, lowest emissions and high efficiency and availability.

High efficient biomass power plant boiler system
High efficient biomass power plant boiler system Presently, rice husk- and bagasse-fired power station boilers develop the largest number and production capacities among biomass power plants. With low outstanding biomass, it's very tough to build new rice husk- or bagasse-fired power plants because of staple constraint. Therefore, enhancing efficiency of bagasse-fired power plants would promote production and usage of biomass power relative to targets from the country’s Electrical power Development plan.

Sugar plants have ultimate potential as electrical power sources because all its wastes may be used for energy production. As an example, bagasse might be boiled inside boiler plus the steam can often produce power while molasses enables you to make ethanol, a raw material for gasohol production. Within the 10-year Renewable energy Development plan, the efficiency enhancement of biomass power plants will initially focus on power plants within sugar refiners before expanding to forms of biomass power plants, fueled by rice husk and palm. Once we have built one biomass power plant boiler in Korea

How to produce power with biomass power plant boiler

Sadly there are some disadvantages to biomass. Wood burning is harmful and releases air pollution. Yet that is only one out of five of the resources in biomass. If not properly controlled, the end result gases may be dangerous. A biomass boiler is slightly more expansive than a regular oil boiler. Also the boilers take up more space than any regular old oil…

Biomass is a good resource because it's renewable and it's a clean energy source. Also biomass can be reproduced over a relatively short period of time. Elk grove needs a resource like biomass because it is natural and will not cause harm like other sources of energy. An example would be coal. Coal mining has the potential to harm air, water and land quality if it is not done with the appropriate…

Abstract: Petcoke is not just a refinery’s by-product any more, but a real alternative costeffective fuel that can be successfully fired in CFB boilers either alone or in blends with coal. With its specific ash content, which is typically lower than 1 percent and very high sulfur, petcoke is an effective source of energy increasing plant economy. Foster Wheeler CFB technology allows efficient combustion of petroleum coke. Numerous references are located mostly in United States or China reaching utility capacities of 300 MWe with the first commercial application dating back to 1984. Now in Europe Foster Wheeler delivered efficient and fuel-flexible petcoke-fired boilers to Bulgaria and Romania allowing customers to use not only standard coals, but also alternative fuels of different origin and properties. In spite of high sulfur content of the fuel reaching up to 8 percent the environmental performance of the units is excellent allowing to achieve low emission limits without external DeSOx and DeNOx installations. To meet the customer’s specific requirements the design allowed the usage of the local limestone or co-firing of heavy oil together with petcoke. Studying the potential of alternative fuels such as petcoke CFB technology appears to be the perfect solution since in many cases fuel flexibility may be a decisive factor in a plant’s economy and feasibility of new projects. 1. Fuel Origin and Characteristics Petroleum coke (Petcoke) is a carbonaceous solid derived from oil refinery coker units or other cracking…

Biomass is the most promising alternative fuel. Agro-waste and agro industrial products have today been recognized as ‘modern’ bio-mass material which can be converted directly into useful forms of energy. Bio-mass has the crucial advantage of being environment friendly. Bagasse is a captive bio-mass. In India, there are 478 sugar mills of varying crushing capacity ranging from a critical period because of over-production, low sugar price, low international market, etc., can enhance revenue by co-generation.…

Current energy supplies in the world are dominated by fossil fuels, some 80% of the total use of over 400 EJ per year. Approximately 13% of the balance is provided by biomass fuels (Jared & John 2002), making energy from biomass by far the most important renewable energy source to date (Andre 2005). The USA has the potential to produce nearly 1.3 billion dry tons of biomass annually which could displace as much as one third of current transportation fuel demands ( Pradeep & Samir 2010). Biomass has a distinct advantage over the use of other renewables such as solar cells and wind power, which are restricted because of the intermittent power generation.…

Introductory overviewAlmost all coal, nuclear, geothermal, solar thermal electric, and waste incineration plants, as well as many natural gas power plants are thermal. Natural gas is frequently combusted in gas turbines as well as boilers. The waste heat from a gas turbine can be used to raise steam, in a combined cycle plant that improves overall efficiency. Power plants burning coal, oil, or natural gas are often referred to collectively as fossil-fuel power plants. Some biomass-fueled thermal power plants have appeared also. Non-nuclear thermal power plants, particularly fossil-fueled plants, which do not use co-generation are sometimes referred to as conventional power plants.…

    Boiler Basics

Design and operation A boiler is an enclosed vessel that provides a means for combustion heat to be transferred into water until it becomes heated water or steam. The hot water or steam under pressure is then usable for transferring the heat for the steam requirements of process industries or for power generation. Combustion boilers are designed to use the chemical energy in fuel to raise the energy content of water so that it can be used for heating and power applications. Many fossil and non-fossil fuels are fired in boilers, but the most common types of fuel include coal, oil and natural gas. During the combustion process, oxygen reacts with carbon, hydrogen and other elements in the fuel to produce a flame and hot combustion gases. As these gases are drawn through the boiler, they cool as heat is transferred to water. Eventually the gases flow through a stack and into the atmosphere. As long as fuel and air are both available to continue the combustion process, heat will be generated. Boilers are manufactured in many different sizes and configurations depending on the characteristics of the fuel, the specified heating output, and the required emission controls. Some boilers are only capable of producing hot water, while others are designed to produce steam. Boilers can burn coal, oil, natural gas, biomass as well as other fuels and fuel combinations. Most boilers are classified as either watertube or firetube boilers, but other designs such as cast iron, coil type, and tubeless (steel shell) boilers are also produced. Components of a boiler system The main components in a boiler system are boiler feedwater heaters, deaerators, feed pump, economiser, superheater, attemperator, steam system, condenser and condensate pump. In addition, there are sets of controls to monitor water and steam flow, fuel flow, airflow and chemical treatment additions.…

Power projects are essentially capital intensive. Not only they involve a highly initial cost which is around Rs. 4.5 to 5.0 crores per MW for coal-based plants but also huge operation cost. The running expenses of a 210MW thermal power station may range around thirty crores every month and usually about 80% of this goes towards the fuel cost. Not only fuel cost but also fuel crises increasing day to day. It is therefore, very important that one gets the best performances from the installed power plants. The first criterion of performance is the plant output. Failure in generating the maximum output from the power plant implies a default in realizing the full return from the huge capital investment made for constructing the plant. Performance degradation by 1KW from a generating unit implies a net loss of about 1.2 lacks incurred over the plant operating life. The performance criterion that receives considerable attention is the plant heat rate. An increase in heat rate by a mere 1kcal/kwh reflects into direct increase in fuel cost by about Rs.20000 per day for 210MW thermal power plant. Boiler performance, the one of the main cause of heat rate deterioration from design value as its efficiency and evaporation ratio reduces with time due to poor combustion, heat transfer fouling and poor operation and maintenance. Deterioration of fuel quality and water quality also leads to poor performance of boiler.…
