The Advantages and Drawbacks of Recycling

(Synthesis)

Nowadays, recycling has become an indispensable part of people’s lives. It is necessary for the industry, the society, and the environment today. However, recycling is not a fad, and it has a long history when it can be recorded. Before the days of mass production, households recycled their material possessions as a need of economic. Recycling has been one of the growth industries of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, and become one of the best environmental success stories. At present, recycling still is the people’s hot topic.

People have realized the importance to save the environment and thus recycling has developed into the first choice method to contribute to the earth. Recycling has many advantages. It can tackle environmental problems, save energy while reduce waste and turn the wastes into treasures.

Above everything else, recycling can tackle environmental problems. A winning invention which is a solar water heater making by plastic bottles and milk cartons is cheap, simple and widely used. It not only solves the problems in Brazil but also has benefits for people. The inventor, Jose Alano, only want to reuse the waste and make contributions to the environment. He never wanted to profit from it.

Secondly, recycling can save energy while reduce waste. Less-industrialized countries face a mounting hazardous e-waste problem unless proper recycling measures are enforced, says the UN(2010). It means that those countries which have sharp rise in electronics sales need to establish the collection and recycling facilities, so, according to Achim Steiner(2010), a wide range of valuable metals including silver, gold, palladium, copper and indium can be reused. In addition, e-waste recycling can also recover valuable natural resources, curb hearth problems and supply more jobs.

Thirdly, recycling can turn waste to useful things. Wastewater will lead a water-borne disease in some developing countries.

Recycling greatly benefits many aspects of the world, particularly the environment. Almost everything used in today’s society is manufactured from plastic (i.e. water/ shampoo/ mouthwash bottles, food containers, furniture, technology, etc.). Due to this, not recycling plastic can lead to many problems in our environment. Recycling plastic promotes the conservation of energy and natural resources. It also contributes to the decrease of water and air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. To add, recycling plastic can save landfill space, or structure…

Recycling and waste prevention are two very important ways to help address the issues of the environment concerning climate change. Recycling is a very beneficial factor that more individuals need to exercise in order to improve the environment’s pollution, reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, and save energy and natural resources that are used to produce products from virgin materials rather than from recycled materials, which uses less energy and produces less harmful pollution. Recycling has many benefits that helps improve the earth’s conditions. Waste prevention and recycling are real ways to address these problems and begin to make a change. Recycling turns materials that would otherwise become waste into valuable resources, reducing the amount of natural resources needed to produce these same products. Collecting your used bottles, cans, and newspapers and taking them to a recycling bin or collection facility is just the first step, in a series of steps that generates a host of financial, environmental, and social returns. These benefits accrue locally as well as globally. Recycling protects and expands United States manufacturing jobs and increases United States competitiveness by creating more recycling jobs and facilities within the United States and producing more of our own products with recycled materials and being less dependent on outside countries and companies for these products. Recycling prevents pollution caused by the manufacturing of products from virgin materials.…

Recycling has been a well known idea for so many years, but now we need it more than ever. Now in the world there are so many problems with the environment like Global Warming, toxic waste, and not to mention not recycling is very costly but recycling reduces the landfill space, helps conserves natural resources, and reduces the production of greenhouse gases . When you recycle you also help save animals so the rims of a six pack of soda doesn’t end up blocking a fish's gills or a plastic bag getting eaten by a turtle and having it choke on the bag. Recycling can also be a group effort where you get a group of people from your community, school, church, job, or just you and your friends so not only your saving the environment but your having fun with people you know while doing it.…

Recycling is a major part of our society. It is something that we as American citizens do daily without thinking twice about it. That is one of the main reasons I chose to write this paper on Recycling sustainability. The role of recycling to preserving our environment and to live in a sustainable way is a lot more important than many people think it is. One of the main reasons I chose to write this paper on recycling is because it is a major part of our everyday lives and it is something that most people and businesses do. As many people think they are helping by recycling, (do not get me wrong, it is a major help to our environment) they do not understand that it has major negative effects on the environment. Recycling is said to be the basis for sustainability. At…

Each ton of solid waste diverted from disposal, whether reused, recycled or composted, is one less ton of solid waste requiring disposal. The value of reusing, recycling and composting solid waste is clear when you consider the amount of disposal space required to accept that material. By implementing other waste- management strategies (as well as resource-management strategies), we reduce our dependence on incinerators and landfills. And when using recycled materials in place of trees, metal ores and minerals, there is less pressure to expand forestry and mining production.…
