The Accuracy Of Jack Sparrow In The Pirates Of The Caribbean
In the movie series the Pirates of the Caribbean most of the information is historically accurate. Jack Sparrow is based on many pirates that would have plundered ships carrying goods through the Caribbean. The weapons used were the same kind of guns that would have been used by real pirates in the 17th and 18th centuries. Most pirates had a pirate code to keep order with the crew Jack Sparrow also had this kind of pirate code. He was more generous then most pirates because he gave everyone the same amount of money. Lastly the myths that pirates believed in at the time were incorporated. Even though they were not completely correct most of them were accurate. Although the Pirates of the Caribbean portrayed some aspects incorrectly, for the most part the movie was pretty historically accurate.

In one scene of the movie one pirate ship shot another pirate ship with cutlery. Cutlery is forks and knives shot from cannons. They also use round shots during boat against boat fights. Round shots are naval artillery used to the human lives and damage ships. They are shot from cannons and make a hole in the wood that send sharp pieces flying that could impale you. In the movie the pirates use swords and cutlasses while fighting in close combat. Both are sharp metal blades that real pirates used to fight just like in the movie. The ships in the movies have flags just like real pirates. Flags are symbols of piracy that usually show intimidation. Overall the weaponry used in the films is very similar to real pirate
