ABSTRACT
Industrialized Building System (IBS) is defined as products, systems and techniques used in making construction less labour-oriented, faster as well as quality controlled. It was introduced to Malaysia to solve issues associated with dependencies of foreign workers, raising demand of affordable accommodations and improving image, quality and productivity of construction industry. The concept of IBS had been implemented in Malaysia; however the implementation of Industrialized
Building System in Sarawak is still low. One of the reasons is due to cheap and abundant supply of labour.
The objectives of this research are to identify the reasons why the adoption of Industrialized Building System components for the construction of residential buildings in Sarawak is not popular and to investigate the acceptance of Industrialized Building System among the developers in Sarawak.
