Thaipusam
Thaipusam Celebration Today, me and my friends are going to the “Sri Balathandayuthaphani Temple” for our moral assignment. The temple was located in Seremban area. This year, we are not going to the Batu Caves for celebrating the Thaipusam because we are not free on that day. According to the request from our lecturer, he hopes we can know more the culture and tradition of the Indian races. So we have decided to go to this temple for asking the information of the Thaipusam. The reason that we choose this temple is because the temple is full of history and the abbot of the temple is very experienced. We are going there by car and we go there in the night time. Because the temple has two different time open to the public. One is afternoon period and one is night period. We are going to the temple on the night time is because we have the class in the afternoon. So, when we reach the temple, we saw a group of people inside the temple and they all are Indian believer. At the same time, we saw a golden chariot in the temple and they are going to have a function with the golden chariot every night. They believe this function will bring them luck and blessing. We also involved in this function because we like to know about more to this function. There has some believer pull the golden chariot around the temple and it will stop four times. The believers have to follow the golden chariot. Each time the golden chariot stop, the believers have to stop too and have a prayer. The frame of golden chariot is made from teak, and covered with a copper plate covering. The covering has been coated with gold, utilizing to 2.5kg of gold.
After the function, we ask the abbot of the temple about the Thaipusam Celebration. The abbot tells us Thaipusam is a Hindu festival mostly celebrated by the Tamil community on the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai (January/February). The festival commemorates the occasion when Parvati gave Murugan a Vel "spear" so he could vanquish the evil

The temple took 15 years to complete. It was constructed between the 7th and 22nd years of the queen’s rule. The structure was constructed of limestone, unlike others in its time that were constructed of sandstone. It had a very long colonnaded terrace that deviated from the center of the structure. The reason for this was caused by the central location of the burial chamber. The structure itself has 3 layered terraces that reach 97 feet tall. Each story was made up of a double colonnade of square piers.…

Additionally, Sumazau dance is oftem performed as a thanksgiving to the God and the spirits for the ample and generous harvest during the Harvest Festival, or commonly known as Pesta Ka’amatan in the state of Sabah which is celebrated every May of the year. It is also performed as a thanksgiving for activities related with the rejection of the army, the spirit of worship and to cure diseases. Apart from that, although its main purpose is to welcome the rice spirit, “Bambaazon”, it can be usually seen to be performed in social gatherings, wedding celebrations, entertainment occasions, welcome dignitaries and other important functions other than festive occasions. Therefore, most of the people would agree with the fact that a Sabah cultural show is considered imperfect without the performance of this well-known dance.…

The first of our three brains to evolve is what scientists call the reptilian cortex. This brain sustains the elementary activities of animal survival such as respiration, adequate rest and a beating heart. We are not required to consciously “think” about these activities. The reptilian cortex also houses the “startle centre”, a mechanism that facilitates swift reactions to unexpected occurrences in our surroundings. That panicked lurch you experience when a door slams shut somewhere in the house, or the heightened awareness you feel when a twig cracks in a nearby bush while out on an evening stroll are both examples of the reptilian cortex at work. When it comes to our interaction with others, the reptilian brain offers up only the most basic impulses: aggression, mating, and territorial defence. There is no great difference, in this sense, between a crocodile defending its spot along the river and a turf war between two urban gangs.…

Republic of the Philippines (in Filipino, Republika ng Pilipinas), island republic in the western Pacific Ocean, within the Malay Archipelago, an island grouping that extends southward to include Indonesia and Malaysia. The Philippines comprises more than 7,100 islands, but the 11 largest islands form most of the country’s land area. The mountainous terrain includes many active volcanoes. The location of the Philippines just north of the equator gives the country a moderate tropical climate suited for the cultivation of export crops such as coconuts and pineapples. Agriculture has long formed the backbone of the economy. After World War II (1939-1945) the Philippines was one of the first nations of Southeast Asia to try to industrialize its economy. It subsequently lagged behind most of its Asian neighbors in economic development. Manila, located on east central Luzon Island, is the national capital and largest city. The republic’s cultural institutions, industries, and federal government are concentrated in this rapidly growing metropolitan area.…

I will admit that before I went for my visit to the museum, I made a small research on the Austronesian Theory, the people and which exact parts did they dominate back then. I could not stand the wait that I had to check what I was getting myself into. Not that I was not trusting the museum to thoroughly explain the theory that I had to check the trusted Wikipedia. I was merely excited. What I did find out was that the creation of Indianized kingdoms Srivijava, Melayu, Majapahit and the founding of Hinduism and Buddhism were because most of the Austronesian people that populated in Maritime Southeast Asia traded goods with India and China and that the sea was the basic tenet for the Austronesian people. That said, their main means of transportation was boating. In addition to that, something from the Austronesian Filipinos, Mummification was found among the country’s highland. Those facts among…
