Her mom asked her to go to the store and grab a gallon of milk, her phone went off, and she was tempted to pick it up and read what it said, she thought to herself “it's just a small text, what’s the worst that could happen." Little did she know the car in the next lane ahead of her was swerving and would end up hitting her because she didn't notice the vehicle, why? All because of the small text she was reading and or sending back. If she wouldn't have picked up the phone to read the text, she could've avoided the swerving car and not got hit. We all know the times we are in the car, and our phones go off, and we are tempted to pick them up and check them or send a simple text back maybe even take that quick phone call. But little do we know how big of a distraction that is and the lives we put in

Texting requires visual, manual and cognitive attention from the driver. It is by far the biggest and top distraction globally. They are making the cars with more elaborate control that can protect, notify, and avoid collisions. When picking up the small gadget and placing in the palm if a driver to send a text only takes 5 seconds, if they were going 55 mph that would enough to cover an entire football field blindfolded. Just removing eyes off the road for a second can increase the chances of crashing, texting or talking on the phone just doubles those chances. In a recent survey, 48% of the people admitted to talking or texting while driving but 58% admitted that they continued to do it. Texting and driving is not only a distraction; it’s a manipulative process to the brain allowing anyone to think that they can text and drive and nothing will happen.
