Water is a human right, not a commodity. It is the essence of life, sustaining every living being on the planet. Without it we would have no plants, no animals, no people. However, while water consumption doubles every twenty years our water sources are being depleted, polluted and exploited by multinational corporations. Water privatization has been promoted by corporations and international lending institutions as the solution to the global water crises but the only one’s who benefit from water privatization are investors and international banks. Our group came up with a design wherein Jose Rizal stands 22 steps above the ground with a height of thirty-five feet. This design was inspired by the original monument of Jose Rizal in Laguna. The monument is composed of twenty-two steps, representing the twenty-two languages that Rizal can speak. The height is 35 feet for Rizal died at the age of thirty-five. In our monument, Jose Rizal is wearing a barong tagalog which represents his nationality. An infinity sign can be found on the 22nd step where Rizal stands. This sign represents his infinite potential when he was alive. He was an actor, an agriculturist, an animal lover, an anthropologist, an archeologist, a botanist, a businessman, a cartographer, a commentator, a conchologist, an ethnologist, an educator, a farmer, a historian, a journalist, a linguist, a lover of truth, a mythologist, a nationalist, an ophthalmologist, a pharmacologist, a philosopher, a physician, a plant lover, a poet, a politician, a propagandist, a reformer, a researcher, a revolutionist, a sculptor, a traveler and many more.…
