In the health care industry, a nurse's duty is to contribute as much as possible to the health of their clients by implementing health promotion as well as disease prevention strategies. There are three main levels of prevention that target health related activities and are known as primary, secondary, and tertiary. Primary prevention has to deal with directing the needs of healthy patients to support their health and to prevent disease with particular interventions. Secondary prevention centers on early detection of patients experiencing sickness, providing treatment, and implementing interventions that are focused to prevent a decline in health status.
