Terrorism is the calculated use of violence (or the threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature; this is done through intimidation or coercion or instilling fear (The free dictionary. 2013). Terrorism is definitely not a new problem in today’s society and the threat of terrorism will, undoubtedly, persist. Terrorism has been one of the greatest global challenges to international peace, stability and security since perhaps the beginning of time, or at least 20,000 years ago when Cain killed his brother Able. The attack on September 11th, 2001 was certainly not the beginning of terrorism. However, since the 9/11 attack, America has changed incredibly from many American’s beliefs, how we think and feel to even air travel. Some of those changes were instantaneous, some were temporary, and some are lasting, in which we are still facing, whatever the case may be, there were definite changes. The most significant change that many are still facing is the fear. The terrorists instilled fear in thousands of Americans. Each and every terrorist attack, no matter where and how extreme it is, will have an impact on the society of the attack.
