Television- good or bad?
Every day people watch thousands of channels that operators give them. In 21. century television has become one of the most important tools for education and entertainment. People say that most of television content is violent and has bad influence on children. But is that really true?
As a child, television was entertaining and I have learned alot by whatching it. Although, over the years, I have learned that television does more harm than good. In the one hand, we can learn about world's problems, it keeps informing us about what's happening in music, film industry etc. We can find out what will the weather be like the next day or the day after that. We can watch Discovery channel or National geographic to learn about history, life or aliens. If you wacth a science program, you can get known about the science development, what reserch we have finished and what we are still reserching for. If you are interested in sports you can watch ´live´ matches __________________.
In the other hand, children learn many bad habits from television. They learn how to swear by watching violent programs. People are often waisting precious time on televion. Also, you can't find any quality channel that provides entertainment and learning. The media promotes glory and fame to people who don't deserve it in shows such as Ice Road Truckers, Ax Man and Mountain Man.
To sum up, watching television is not the ideal way to spend free time. In my opinion, TV would be better if there was more learning channels. I must commend croatian televion for providing students channels with instructions. They help us understand hard subjects and we are all grateful for that. Television is good option if you want to take a break, but don't get walleyed!

When the television made its first debut in the early to mid 20th century it came with good intentions. This idea of good intention however did not last long with the critics. As early as 1961 the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission referred to television as a “Vast Wasteland,” (351). Many other critics would come to share in his beliefs about television. There have been numerous books, articles, essays, and research done on the subject of television and its negative effects on children in particular. Marie Winn’s article is just one of many.…

The first reason why people shouldn’t watch too much television is because the content of many TV programs is not educational. Nowadays we can see movies, series, and shows that present scenes of violence, and drugs. This has established wrong concepts among the audience that influence them into having a negative behavior. Moreover the impact this tendency has on children is worse because they grow up with the idea of a world where women must be slender and blonde to stand out, where problems can only be solved with money and violence, and where wars are inevitable.…

Although television focuses more on the visual aspect than the substantive. I believe that there are two types of learners, those who learn by listening to information, and those who learn best by seeing it before them. For both types of learners TV is perfect. Television has almost everything you would like to learn. For instance if you wish to learn about animals, there is the Nature channel as well as the Animal planet. Granted, there are masses of not educational shows but, if you watch the educational ones you are bound to learn something. The educational shows have a wide range of…

I agree that television shows influences our behaviors even without our knowledge of it. Although television seems like a great thing to have, it has many drawbacks. Television can have negative impacts on people, especially kids. People learn new skills by observing, then utilizing it, such as when we were kids and learn to walk by seeing our family walking around or learning a new subject in school. Therefore, when watching television it may influence our fundamental social dispositions; no matter if it is good or bad. Almost ninety nice percent of households possess one television. Television is today’s source of news, stories, legends, and characters from previous centuries; the reason why it is so influential. However, only “0.7 percent is used for public service announcements and news”(Sex, violence, profanity...). The other 97.3 % consists of television shows with violence, crime, advertisements and mainstream blandness. Many studies and research has been done to demonstrate that heavy television viewing may lead to serious health consequences. Television is great for entertainment but has grown into a major problem.…

TV corrupts our children. Jerome Singer once said, “If you came and saw a strange man teaching your kids to punch each other, or trying to sell them all kind of products, you’d kick him right out of the house, but here you are; you come in and the TV is on, and you don’t think twice about it.” He is correct; entertainment television is an especially bad influence on children for many reasons, including not enough control on violence. “All children in industrialized parts of the world are exposed to television from birth onward, and they begin paying attention to it quite early. When they are between 2 and 5 years old, they form some basic conceptions about the representational nature of the television medium and begin to understand how the content shown on television is related to events in the real world.” (Wright, Huston, Reitz, & Piemyat 1994) “On average, children watch at least four hours of television a day. By the time they graduate from High School they will have spent more time in front of the television than they have in a classroom. If television is used right it can have an educational value, but too much television portraying improper values can harm children.” (American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, 2001)…

I believe television is a predator to human society. I think TV has a great negative effect on people who watch it too much. It sucks you in and wastes a lot of your time. I believe television is the reason for so many people to be out of shape. Not only are you immobile but people also have a tendency to snack while they are watching TV. They eat unhealthy food and don't take the time to exercise afterwards. Children who watch TV hear coarse language and see violence, crime, use of drugs, and sex. Many programs are not educational at all. Most are fictional cartoons or movies that don't teach you anything. Most parents want their young children to learn and watch educational programs but they are not always able to watch them. Younger people see things on TV and think it is okay when it is not. They hear someone in a movie swear and they might repeat it around others. Children look up to certain people and if they see someone on TV doing something like drinking or smoking they might think it is cool and copy that person. Families don't have enough time together because they are glued to the TV set. They may watch TV with each other but they aren't usually able to talk with each other while the TV is on. Meal times are often spent at the TV instead of at the table interacting with each other. Many children will not have as good imaginations as others because TV doesn't require you to use your brain at all. People also lose sleep because they don't want to miss a show that is on late. TV has an enormous negative affect on people and on society. They should limit the time they spend watching TV and should choose programs…
