Teenagers Should Be Allowed To Date At Sixteen Research Paper
Have you ever watched a romantic movie where two teenagers fall in love? Has your teenager ever asked you if you could allow them to date? What was your response? My response would be that teenagers should be allowed to date at the age of sixteen. One reason would be that teenagers are mature enough to make their own decisions in a relationship at the age of sixteen. Another reason would be that teenagers are more attracted to the same or opposite sex at this age and want to start dating. And the last reason would be that teenagers want someone to be there for them when they feel unneeded. My first reason why I think teenagers should be allowed to date at the age of sixteen is because they are mature enough. Teenagers ate mature enough …show more content…
And even if their parents say that they can't date, they would do it anyway. A therapist stated, " In trying to understand sexual orientation, for sixteen year olds, it can help a person to think about who he or she has crushes on and fantasizes about being with." This shows that teenagers want to start dating at sixteen. The last reason why I think teenagers should be allowed to date at the age of sixteen is because teenagers want someone to be there for them when they feel unneeded. Teenagers are going through puberty and has conflicts with their parents. And sometimes teenagers feel unneeded, and they feel as if they need someone to be there for them when they go through this. Thats why they look for someone to be with them at this time. In conclusion, teenagers should be allowed to date at the age of sixteen. It is a fact that many teenagers drink even though they are underage. Whether its at home, parties, or just at hang out places. People make all this mess about how easy teenagers can get to alcohol. If they lower the drinking age then twelve and thirteen year olds will be able to get alcohol even easier and start drinking at a even younger age, but according to statistics that's not true, because now 71% of 8th graders say it is easy for them to get alcohol. So it wouldn’t make a difference if the age was lowered.…

One of the main reasons sixteen year olds should be able to drive is because they have a lot more places need they need to be at that age. High schools host a variety of different clubs, sports teams, after school activities, etcetera. While our parents may be able to take us to some of them, their work may get in the way of an important activity or something their student desperately needs to attend. Driving is the solution to this problem since we are able to take ourselves where we need to be without interfering too much with our parent’s schedules. If you don’t allow teens to drive until they are eighteen it would be a huge inconvenience and would inevitably cause teens to attend fewer and fewer extracurricular activities which in the end will do more harm to our academic success than good.…

According to Vogel this suggestion, many people would make the argument that teens are not in full control of their actions due to immaturity and lack of knowledge of the world (Vogel, 1994). However, the government has already deemed this age group able to have a job or drive a car. Think about it, how is it that these people that the government puts responsible in some ways are suddenly too immature to realize that they are pointing a gun at someone or physically or sexually assaulting another human being well that is where society is wrong in believing they are mature. Where is the magical line drawn that says one teen is responsible and mature and another is not? The truth is that state and federal guidelines simply attach an age to privileges. Why is it not such a simple process for determining if someone is of legal age to stand adult trial, I will tell you why because society wants to give them another chance to regain their mentality? Another concern that opponents of sending juveniles to adult court for violent crimes would argue is that these “kids” are not in control of their actions or responsible for their crimes because they have been in poor home and…

People argue on lowering the drinking age to eighteen whether it is a good idea. Some teenagers start experiencing drinking in high school. Many teenagers think there is nothing wrong with a drink every now or again at a party. In fact, many teenagers see drinking alcohol as an important stage in becoming an adult. For this reason, teenagers are more temped to consume alcohol. The legal drinking age should be lowered from twenty-one to eighteen because eighteen is considered to be a legal adult, it will help with economy, and help teenagers have a safer environment.…

Students at the age of 16 are too young to make life changing decisions about their education. In the United States almost every state complies with the age limit of 16 for a student to be able to decide as to whether they would want to continue their education. The age requirement to be able to make this decision should be raised to 18 because education is important, 16 is not a mature age to make such a decision, and it keeps students from giving up, and pushes them to keep going. Sixteen is the prime age of a person to start learning and maturing, not making adult role decisions.…

The age of 18 brings about freedom for young people in America. At 18, a person legally becomes an "adult". A person can now buy cigarettes or a home, vote, and even get married. In addition, from their 18th birthday and beyond, the young person is no longer tried for crimes in juvenile courts; now, they are tried in adult courts. But, does one or two years make such a difference between sixteen year olds and eighteen year olds? Is it fair for one person, just seventeen years of age, to be tried in a juvenile court, receiving a lesser sentence for murder than an person just six months older in age who committed the same crime? I think not. Trying juveniles as adults should be constantly allowed because punishment should be based on the harshness of the crime, not the criminal's age. Responsibility and out of date courts are 2 examples of reasons why juveniles should be tried as adults.…
