Teenage Marriages
Marriage Under 18 Young marriage today is not the same as before when an eighteen year old was very mature compare to now. Jobs were easier to find and a high school education was enough. When young girls became pregnant they got married and they would make it work as that was the right thing to do. Today, teenagers get married and shortly after, they end up in divorce leaving children fatherless. They have become more irresponsible, with no care in the world, not realizing who they are hurting. Teenage marriage should not be allowed because of insufficient financial support, unplanned pregnancy and immaturity of persons involved. The first reason why teenage marriage should not be allowed to marry is due to insufficient financial support. Teenage married couples most of the time end up dropping out of high school. The decision of not continuing with their education later makes it very hard to get a good decent paying job. Their lack of education and financial resources they are unable to rent an apartment, buy a car or get things that are necessities for a married couple. Having a tight financial situation can create tension between the couple making them unhappy, making them to argue about every little thing. Without good financial support a marriage will face many difficulties but they worsen when children are involved. Children is the main reason why teenage marriages occur and money becomes a bigger issue. Teenage marriages usually end up in a divorce making it a higher risk for poverty then if they would have never gotten married. When they end up in divorce the children become fatherless with no male role in their lives. Sometimes the grandparents end up taking care and raising their grandchild or grandchildren because their daughter or son unable to take care of them. Another reason why teenage marriage should not be allowed is because of unplanned pregnancy. Since, they are still very young themselves; they are unable to handle the long

So many teens today are becoming parents. When I was in school their were a few girls that were pregnant, but most of the teenagers cared more about shopping, and going to parties. I look at high school kids today so many are pregnant or already had babies. I believe teenage pregnancy is one of the top reasons teens drop out of school. In the article “Teenage Pregnancy Is a Serious Problem” written by Kristin Moore and Barbara Sugland, they state that “the children of teenage parents often do poorly in school.” With a lack of education limits teens employment possibility, which effects how well they will be able to take care of their self and child. Teen pregnancy is just one of the consequences for having sex at an early…

Marriage has gone through profound changes over the last five decades, but we continue to speak about it as though it's the same old familiar pattern. To see how much has changed; I am going to look at the shift from the forties, to the sixties, to today. In 1968, less than a year after the famous Summer of Love, as they used to say out in the country, "The times they were a-changing." The sexual revolution, Viet Nam, drugs--the youth of the day were convinced the world would never be the same again. Yet they didn't think about how such changes would affect marriage. It seemed as if they thought it would be about the same as it had been for their parents, except better because they (like most youth of most times) thought they were better than…

Teenagers who become mothers have a very slim chance of having a good future. If a teenage girl gives birth while still in high school, she will most likely drop out to care of the baby. They also might not have the support of their family and therefore do not receive the knowledge of how to properly care for the baby. The mothers would be forced to rely on public assistance and advice on how to raise the child. However, if they do marry the father, they might end up divorced and have to raise their baby as a single parent.…

Adults and teenagers often clash heads when it comes to views. Different eras, dissimilar thinking, but what teenagers forget is that adults have experienced what they are going through. In Romeo and Juliet, Juliet's parents think that arranged marriage is good because thats probably how they got married. Furthermore adolescents forget that adults want the best for them, even though it might seem like they don't want the best for them. For example, the Nurse wanted Juliet to marry Paris because Romeo was evicted. The Nurse thought if Juliet settles down with Paris, it would be better than worrying about your husband that's in another city. Teenagers are not the sole ones at fault though, because adults frequently forget that teenagers are allowed…

In my life, I found a connection with the sociological article, Family Structure History and Adolescent Romance. When I first decided to reflect on this social conflict in personal life, I was still trying to figure out the situation. I could not understand how dating this man was such a bad decision, or why it made my parents so angry. When I was a younger teenager, I was scared of what my parents would think when I was dating a boy, so I dealt with it was by not dating anyone. My mom told me to pray for my future husband and I remember laying in bed around ten years old thinking that it sounded cool to pray for my future husband, but that it was so far down the road. Previously, in my Sophomore year in high school, I struggled with…

According to the World Health Organization child marriage “denies a girl her childhood, disrupts her education, limits her possibilities, and increases her risk of violence and jeopardizes her health” (NCBI, Paragraph 7). Young girls are forced to marry elderly men to help their families pay for basic necessities or pay off a family debt. In many countries, the marriageable age for women is abnormally low due to the fact the government set two different legal ages for men and women; in some countries the legal age of consent for girls is as low as sixteen. The leaders of such countries attempt to justify these legal limits of girls by saying—stating that girls mature faster than boys. However, I believe that girls should be allowed to mature and live with their parents until they are old enough to marry a suitor of their…

Getting married at a young age can be negative for several reasons. The many reasons why people get married at a young age could be because of love, lust, for financial support, to become a citizen, or due to an unexpected pregnancy. A lot of times young adults confuse sexual attraction with love or confuse a need for financial security with love for their partner. There is a very fine line between love and lust because the two of them are closely related. Lust is an incredibly strong feeling that can be almost uncontrollable, leading it to commonly be mistaken for love. Not being able to tell the difference between lust and love can lead these young adults to an unhealthy relationship which can lead to eventual failure such as abuse. Another reason why some get married at a young age is for financial support. There are several disadvantages to young teenage girls getting married to older men for the use of their financial support. They can suffer many emotional and physical effects from getting married so early in life. In addition, many people get married young become a citizen of this country. One can easily get into the United States legally and become a citizen through a legitimate marriage. The risks of marriage to become a citizen of the United States can include a combination of fines, prison up to five years and deportation. Finally, the most common cause is unexpected pregnancy. Most of the time when a young couple has sexual relationships without any kind of protection is because they are too young and do not have much information about that. Families prefer to keep appearances, and they force them to get married. The effect of marriage due to an unexpected pregnancy can lead to many different problems. Teenage pregnancy has not always been such a big issue as it is today. The big problem before was unmarried mothers, age was not important. One reason why, is because many males and females had completed their education by age 15 or 16 (Farber, 2003). If a girl did become pregnant, the families pushed for marriage. As long as the family could be supported, the public saw no problems. In the past 30 years views on teenage sexual activity, pregnancy, and parenting have dramatically changed. Our society is now very open-minded and accepting about teen pregnancy.…

A lot more states say that a child can be 16 years old, sometimes only with parental approval, to get married. To me, this is still not ok. At 16 kids should be focused on school, getting their driver’s license and maybe a part time job, not marriage or having kids. What makes people think that any age under 21 would be acceptable to get married? People are so young at 14, 16, 18 years old and should still be learning about life and themselves, that in my opinion, marriage should not even be considered. I also don’t see why anyone would let their child get married before they would be old enough…
