Teddy Roosevelt

"To waste, to destroy, our natural resources, to skin and exhaust the land instead of using it so as to increase its usefulness, will result in undermining in the days of our children the very prosperity which we ought by right to hand down to them amplified and developed."

I feel that America has done what they could to for the environment. I think that America has improved dramatically since Roosevelt spoke. America has improved, but they are not perfect.

America has improved its environment problem since Roosevelt spoke, but they still have room to improve. America is not wasting as much resources, and they are not taking advantage of the resources. United States now have many programs to help the environment, and many groups who stand up for the environment. Technology is getting more advanced, there are more and more electric cars that are around.

The government is doing the best job possible, to preserve the environment. Many parks have been opened since Roosevelt spoke. Parks are being upgraded and there are also new parks being opened. There are also more rules and fines for littering or any thing in that nature. The government has done what they could to preserve the environment, in my opinion.

When I said that America still has room to improve, I meant that the public has to do something about it. The public still has to stop littering and try to recycle more. The public still has more work to do.

This was my opinion on Roosevelt's speech. I thought that the government is doing all they could. I feel that the public could still

Answer #1: The environmental movement started around the end of the 1700’s. However, most people did not join in to or even know about the environmental movement until many decades later. You could say that there was at first a sharp increase in the awareness of the environmental problems and the environmental movement to stop these problems around the mid 1950’s. This is the time in which people began to jump on the environmentally friendly and cautious band wagon because there were several catastrophic environmental disasters that occurred during this time period as well as a large increase in the popularity of televisions and radio as well as the media as a whole. Because of the increase in American’s access to media coverage on the news on television at the time, many people were able to see as well as hear what was going on at the time. Some events that were covered by the news media included oil spills, and the effects on ocean life due to those oil spills, as well as nuclear bombs, also known as atomic bombs, being tested in the state of New Mexico. These events were not only occurring and being witnessed by the citizens of the United States, but were happening across the world and that led to many people becoming involved in the environmental movement, which today is larger than it has ever been. However, that is in part because the world continues to have oil spills and other horrible disasters at an ever increasing rate every year.…

There are many presidents that have left an influential mark on American society, but one president stands out among them all for fulfilling a successful presidency during undesirable times. Franklin Delano Roosevelt took over office after President Herbert Hoover’s term and during the worst economic downfall the United States has ever faced. FDR acted as the voice for the Americans who were typically looked over in society. FDR was unlike most president because he connected with Americans through his fireside chats that would be broadcasted over the radio. Fireside chats were used to inform Americans of the current events and the decisions that the White House was going to make on certain issues. FDR did a remarkable job of keeping his polio out of the public eye, but even having a disability did not keep him from making such a positive impact on the American economy.…

The Gallup asks Americans on an open-ended basis about top problems facing the country; the economy is always at or near the top of the list, while environmental concerns seldom break the top five issues mentioned. (Public Priorities, 2005) But as Eric Davidson said, the ruins of nature can not build a healthy economy. (Davidson, 2000) The modern, high-tech economy is still based on natural resource. People must understand that natural resource will be ruined by pollution. (2000) As Don Fullerton said: in the Environmental Economics undertakes theoretical or empirical studies of the economic effects of national or local environmental policies around the world, including effects on pollution, research and development, physical investment, labor supply, economic efficiency, and the distribution of real income. Particular issues include the costs and benefits of alternative environmental policies to deal with air pollution, water quality, toxic substances, solid waste, and global warming. (Environmental Economics, 2010) Negative effects of economic development on environment will damage the earth. In order to solve these problems, government is obligated…

Our planet is like a ticking bomb of contamination. We do not see the harm we are doing to ourselves and most importantly to our planet by polluting our air, burning fossil fuels, and clearing out forest. Climate change is responsible for 300,000 deaths and garbage pollution accumulates to more than 4 billion tons worldwide, and why are we not doing anything against it? Is our planet not worth conserving it? It is shameful to see trash flowing around in rivers and streams, wrappers thrown out of windows or in the streets without anyone to at least pick it up. The reality is that this present generation has become less and less productive in the conservation of our planet, and day by day our world loses its natural beauty through the horrible contamination we produce in trash. Preserving our planet should be the main priority and through that we should recycle, be aware of deforestation, and diminish water use.…
